We’ve found out the best playgrounds for babies and toddlers around Ryde. What’s our criteria we hear you ask? Here’s what we’re looking for:

- low-risk equipment
- a designated baby/toddler area that bigger (aka faster, louder, more rambunctious) kids won’t be interested in
- fenced or safe from the road

Anzac Park, West Ryde
Wattle St, West Ryde
This recently upgraded playground is a winner for kids young and old. We love that the area for young children has soft fall ground. You’ll also find toilets and good parking.
Boronia Park, Epping
37 Bridge Street, Epping
Boronia Park is a 4.9 hectare Park located in Epping. Upgraded a few years ago, the playground has equipment to suit all ages and is split across 3 areas.
Buffalo Creek Reserve, Hunters Hill
177 Pittwater Road, Hunters Hill
Call your pals, bring a picnic and settle in at Buffalo Creek Reserve, Hunters Hill. There’s lots of space and plenty of greenery, but the part the kids will love is the play equipment – and don’t forget scooters!
The Canopy, Lane Cove
Rosenthal Ave, Lane Cove
The Canopy playground in Lane Cove has a dedicated baby area with safe, age-appropriate play structures and shaded spots. It’s a modern, vibrant space for babies to explore while parents can enjoy nearby cafes or the park’s open areas.
ELS Hall Park, North Ryde
Kent Rd, North Ryde
This spacious playground has a great section tailored for babies. The baby swings, soft fall ground, and shaded play areas make it a great option for a morning or afternoon outing with little ones.

West Pymble Golden Grove Playground is a quiet and peaceful area great for babies. With baby swings, low-level play equipment, and soft fall surfaces, it provides a safe space for the little ones to explore.

A nearby cafe, green space, on the river and 20kms of cycleway – what’s not to like about Halvorsen Park in Ermington?
Harry Shelley Memorial Park, Hunters Hill
Mount Street, Hunters Hill
This quiet park in Hunters Hill offers a small, fenced playground with soft surfaces, baby swings, and simple climbing structures. It’s perfect for a low-key outing with your baby, offering a safe and relaxing environment.
Hughes Park, Lane Cove West
314 Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove West
Train-loving toddlers will adore this playground and so will the parents -there’s coffee nearby, soft fall ground and plenty of seating. There’s even a community garden, exercise equipment and BBQs if you’re inclined to bring some sausages for dinner.
Kissing Point Park, Putney
Waterview St, Putney
Putney Kissing Point Park is a great playground for babies with soft surfaces for crawlers, and baby swings for a little extra fun. With shaded sections and river views, it’s an excellent spot for a peaceful outing with your baby.
Lions Park, West Ryde
Corner Victoria Road and Shaftsbury Road West Ryde
This playground has great parking, easy pram access, a sweet little slide with only a couple of soft-fall steps and a sandpit. It’s also fenced and very spacious!
Livvi’s Place, Five Dock
Henley Marine Dr, Five Dock
This inclusive playground has a dedicated area for babies, featuring sensory play, soft rubber flooring, and baby-friendly equipment. The thoughtful design ensures safety and engagement for the littlest ones while providing shaded spaces for comfort. It also has a coffee shop on site!
Livvi’s Place, Yamble Reserve
Quarry Rd, Ryde
Yamble Reserve Livvi’s Place in Ryde remains a top choice for babies with its inclusive, safe design. The sensory play equipment, shaded areas, and soft fall surfaces make it ideal for crawlers and early walkers, offering a stimulating and safe environment.
McIlwaine Park – Brays Bay Reserve, Rhodes
Corner of Concord Road and Mary Street in Brays Bay Reserve, Rhodes
Set on the Parramatta River, this playground is split into two sections – younger kids and older kids. The younger kids section is smaller and fully fenced so you might even get to sit down and relax for a minute while taking in the view.
Memorial Park, Meadowbank
Constitution Rd, Meadowbank
Memorial Park is a lovely nature-inspired playground on the banks of the Parramatta River. In the top section, well away from the water, there is a great little slide and swings that little kids will love.
Monash Park, Gladesville
Ryde Rd, Gladesville
Small, fenced and fun Monash Park is a great one for little kids with inbuilt trampolines, a small slide, swings and a picnic table to enjoy morning tea. The only downside is all that bark ground.
Rhodes Foreshore Park
142 Shoreline Dr, Rhodes
Not too big, shaded, fenced, and astroturf ground and coffee is close by, on the riverfront. Need we say more!? ;p
Ryde Park
Corner of Princes Street and Argyle Street
For that park and coffee combo, Ryde Park is a winner. There’s some great play equipment for young ones and a cafe right next to the playground.
Strathfield Park
Homebush Rd, Strathfield
Strathfield Strathfield Park is HUGE and is great for older kids but it also has a fantastic section for younger kids with soft fall areas and baby-friendly equipment. The shaded play area provides an extra layer of comfort, making it a popular spot for families with infants.
West Epping Park
Dent St, Epping
West Epping Park playground is HUGE but there is a great little shaded area that younger kids will enjoy. It’s a perfect park to take kids of varying ages, as there is something for everyone.
