We all know and love Lah Lah right? Husband and wife team Tina and Mark Harris, creators of Lah Lah’s Adventures have been forced to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help them finance their next production The Stripy Sock Club. They say that funding for preschool TV shows in Australia is in a crisis.
Tina and Mark say that a lot of preschool content on Australian screens now consists of animated shows from overseas, with funding tied to the potential for revenue from toy sales. As their show focuses on making music, they don’t really have funding coming in from toy licensing. Funding for a show like their comes from broadcaster license fees (which are getting smaller all the time), government funding (which is getting harder to access), and angel investors (who demand large chunks of profits and merchandising rights). Therefore, they’ve chosen to tread a completely new funding path.
They are launching this Indiegogo campaign to fund the $300,000 gap in the show’s $1M production budget and they need our support to bring 26 x seven-minute episode series of The Stripy Sock Club to life. They’re committed to producing this show in January-February 2019 and if they don’t make the whole amount, they’ll make as many episodes as they can with whatever they raise.
Through their crowdfunding campaign, supporters can purchase great perks and in doing so, contribute funds toward the making of this series.
