Buffalo Creek Reserve, Hunters Hill

Call your pals, bring a picnic and settling in at Buffalo Creek Reserve, Hunters Hill. There’s lots of space and plenty of greenery, but the part the kids will love is the play equipment – and don’t forget scooters!

Let’s start in the centre and work our way out. The first thing you’ll see as you park in the free 3-hour parking bay (believe it or not, it used to be metred until 2020 so enjoy that free 3 hours!) is a large shaded play area which comes complete with slides, swings, spinners and all the good stuff for kids 1 to about 7. The soft fall ground makes it great for little ones who will enjoy the low-to-the-ground equipment.

Scooter Track

To the left, you’ll find a dinky scooter track that kids 3+ will just love. It comes complete with stop signs, roundabouts and road lines. How fun!

Cubby & Flying Fox

Further left is the cubby house with a kid-size picnic table – loads of fun to be had here using all types of imaginative play! And finally, towards the back of the area is the flying fox which of course the kids will love! Plenty of work for us parents but let’s think of it as our exercise ;p

Bushwalks

Beyond the huge open grassy space is the entrance to some lovely bushwalks along the creek. It also connects up to the famous Great North Walk through Lane Cove National Park. If that’s not enough across Pittwater Road is the Field of Mars Reserve with five bush walks.

Amenities

Buffalo Creek is well-appointed with toilets, BBQ’s and bench seats aplenty.

Getting There
