Yum Cha at Jinja Restaurant & Bar, The Governor Hotel – Macquarie Park

We had Yum Cha at Jinja Restaurant at the Governor Hotel, Macquarie Park! We also had a girls’ night dinner which you can read about here.

Nine of us, aged four months all the way up to 43 years old headed in for Yum Cha, looking forward to an overdue catch-up. First impressions were great – the venue is as big as it is beautiful. From the entry to the decor, the artwork, lighting, and styling – it’s all gorgeous and so tastefully designed. Spacious and glamorous – a winning combo.

We were greeted and so enjoyed being taken care of by host Wilbur, Operations Manager. He and all the staff were very attentive and friendly staff adding even more warmth to the inviting atmosphere. They were more than willing to help us navigate the menu, suggesting their personal favourites.

The Food

Jinja’s hatted Head Chef Sebastian Tan (formerly of Silks at Crown Sydney) has expertly crafted a menu that caters to all ages and palates. For the kids, the steamed dumplings, pork buns, and spring rolls were a hit while the adults relished the variety of seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The Peking Duck Pancakes were an absolute highlight for us all – the kids loved making their wraps, it was a very hands-on experience..! We all went back for seconds and thirds and fourths – it was the dish that kept on giving.

As for drinks, we were spoilt for choice with carefully crafted cocktails and a huge selection of fine wines and beer being just some of the choices on offer. And what would a Cantonese restaurant be without tea – except in this instance we had 20+ options to choose from!

Private Dining and Functions

From the glamorous decor to ‘zoned’ spaces and of course excellent service, Jinja looks to be MADE for hosting events. The venue has 5 lavish private dining areas available for both business and personal events and an attractive bar with plenty of bar tables from which to enjoy artisanal cocktails. It’s a perfect space for a birthday party or end-of-year function.
