There’s loads happening this September! We’ve compiled a list of the most family-friendly events around.

Fireworks Spectacular School Fete

When: Saturday 9th September from 3pm.

Where: Eastwood Heights Public School  – 9a Lincoln Street Eastwood Sydney

Details: The Eastwood Heights Public School “Fireworks Spectacular” is back on this year. The annual School Fete will be held on Saturday, 9th September, starting at 3pm.

The much-loved Fireworks display will light up the sky at 7:15pm. It’s set to be a fun-filled day with delicious food, rides, entertainment, and many stalls! Entry is free though a gold coin donation is appreciated.

Orange Blossom Festival

When: Saturday 9th September – Saturday 23rd September 2023

Where: Rouse Hill Town Centre and around the hills

Details: Savour a taste of spring this September with The Hills Shire’s biggest community event – the Orange Blossom Festival. On Saturday 9 September, the festival returns to its roots with the iconic OBF Parade. This year’s OBF Parade will be held at Rouse Hill Town Centre. Local performance and community groups will march alongside colourful floats, Pippa the Orange and floral figures down Main Street. The parade will end with stage performances in Market Square, including a special appearance from PAW Patrol.

A range of Orange Blossom Festival-associated events organised and delivered by community groups will also run throughout September as part of the month-long festival such as the Kenthurst Fair, Bonsai Show, Come & Try BMX Day, Run for the Hills Cross Country Challenge, Sydney Hills Garden Competition, Family Concert by the Sydney Hills Youth Orchestra and much more.

St Charles Primary School Fete

When: Sunday 10th September 2023 from 11am – 4pm

Where: 582 Victoria Road Ryde

Details: Jam-packed with fun for all ages, the St Charles Catholic Primary School fete is sure to be a great day for the entire family! The school will be bustling with a range of stalls and activities, including carnival rides, stalls and foods from every corner of the globe. Kids’ Corner is sure to delight the young ones with Daytona Cars, kids crafts and face painting just to name a few attractions! Parents can unwind with a spot of shopping or sit back and enjoy performances from the local community and school on centre stage

Stepping up to the dunk tank this year is the St Charles Principal, Peter Watkins, Jerome Laxale MP and Parish Priest Father Greg! Let’s hope it’s a warm day- It’s sure to be a good laugh.

All monies raised will directly benefit students.

City of Ryde Careers Expo

When: Tuesday 12th September 2023, 10am – 2pm

Where: Meadowbank TAFE (M & P Buildings), See St, Meadowbank

Details: This Careers Expo for young people aged 15 – 24 will offer career/employment skill-building and opportunities for local TAFE students, local high school students and community members via information, workshops and networking.

Workshops will be provided covering topics of resume writing, interview skills and dressing for work aim to increase employability and interview success for the Career Expo participants.

Stalls at the expo will showcase TAFE, community service providers, employment services and local businesses who will provide career information. It’s an opportunity for participants to learn about the pathways, services and support available as they make decisions and embark on a new career.

Real/mock interviews will be provided by local businesses and employment service providers to practice interview skills, receive mentorship and potentially get hired for a real job. It’s an opportunity for participants to get support around the practicalities of landing a job.

Live Demonstrations and TAFE course showcase will be delivered by TAFE students and staff. Participants can experience and interact with current TAFE staff and students to get a taste of varied career opportunities that lead from TAFE courses.

West Ryde Mini Trains

When: Saturday 16th September 1-3.30pm

Where: Corner of Anthony Rd and Betts St behind West Ryde Shopping Centre

Details: Great fun for young and old, the West Ryde Mini Trains are a local treasure. Held on every 3rd Saturday of the month from 1-3.30pm, the Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society is still located at the original site where it formed in 1948 – on the corner of Anthony Rd and Betts St behind West Ryde shopping centre.

Here you’ll find you can find 3 miniature train tracks with ride-on trains hauled by miniature steam locomotives. The park grounds are a popular location for children’s birthday parties or small group afternoon gatherings.

St Ives Food & Wine Festival

When: Sunday 17th September 2023, 10am – 4pm

Where: St Ives Village Green

Details: Get ready for a bigger and better celebration of delicious food, tantalising wine and family fun! The upcoming St Ives Food and Wine Festival 2023 promises to be a sensational spring event, drawing visitors from both near and far. With over 50 food, wine, and lifestyle stalls and a captivating entertainment lineup catering to all ages, it’s an occasion not to be missed.

Here’s what you can anticipate:

  • Savor wine tastings from premium and boutique wineries, along with handmade spirits, cocktails, and liqueurs.
  • Delight in diverse culinary delights from fantastic food trucks, representing various cuisines.

All proceeds from this event will be shared between the Ku-ring-gai Neighbourhood Centre and Rotary Club of St Ives, supporting community and youth projects.

Cabramatta Moon Festival

When: Sunday 17th September 2023, 11 am – 8 pm

Where: Cabramatta Town Centre

Details: Known as one of Sydney’s most extensive and vibrant cultural festivals, the Cabramatta Moon Festival draws over 90,000 Sydneysiders eager to savor the delights offered by Sydney’s top street food vendors. The festival boasts live music, captivating lion dances, diverse entertainment on two stages, a variety of rides and activities for children, a breathtaking fireworks display, and an overall lively ambiance.

Spot On Children’s Festival

When: Saturday 23rd September – Wednesday 4th October 2023

Where: Riverside Theatres

Details: The Spot On Children’s Festival is returning to Riverside Theatres for another exciting year! Over 12 jam-packed days during the spring school holidays, this year’s festival features a fun-filled line-up of events guaranteed to keep your little (and big) ones entertained.

Ryde Wharf Markets

When: Sunday 10

Where: Anderson Park, Meadowbank

Details: The Ryde Wharf Market, run by Cambridge Markets, is on the 2nd AND 4th Sunday of every month from 9am-2pm at Anderson Park, Meadowbank. You’ll find dozens of stalls covering:
? fresh baked breads and treats

? Fresh flowers
? fruit & veg
? delicious desserts
? wines and spirits
? international food stalls ranging from gozleme to dumplings
☕️ 2 coffee carts
? women’s clothing and accessories + jewellery

We recommend parking on Waterview St Putney and walking via the underpass.

You’re welcome to bring your 4 legged friends as long as they are on a lead – they would probably love to browse the pet stalls!

Wentworth Point Markets

When: Sunday 17th September

Where: Wentworth Place, Wentworth Point

Details: Wentworth Place and the town square will come alive from 9am-2pm with monthly markets thanks to Cambridge Markets!

There is so much on offer – you will be spoilt for choice. Enjoy delicious international food stalls to food products, plants and homewares, pet accessories (bring your furry friends along) barista made coffee (hooray), activities for the kids, cake, breads, beautiful things for the home, and, of course, delicious brunch and lunch stalls. There is live music and lots of tables and chairs so you can sit back and relax.

Come along to this very popular and friendly market and enjoy the outdoors. Free parking for 3 hours, entry is 1 Burroway Rd Wentworth Point or why not catch the Ferry and get off at Sydney Olympic Park Wharf.
