RDM Visits: Fit Kidz Early Learning Centre Putney

posted in: Childcare, Life | 0

Fit Kidz Putney invited us to visit their centre so they could proudly show off their service, which they consider to be of the highest standard in Childcare.

Established in 2004, Fit Kidz is a family-owned and operated business of 9 Early Learning Centres around Sydney. With the Putney location having just celebrated their 9th year in operation, they were keen to share with us the things about it that their families love the most.

Outdoor Space

The outdoor space at Fitz Kidz is undeniably impressive! It’s not only huge but it is also fun-filled and extremely functional. Play equipment is plentiful and includes:

  • chickens
  • turtles
  • worm farm
  • composting bins
  • rainwater tank
  • outdoor tables for craft and eating
  • outdoor kitchen
  • a giant slide
  • netted suspension bridge
  • massive sandpit
  • balance beams
  • fairy garden
  • trike paths and more

Sustainability

Fit Kidz explained that sustainability is something they put great value on and build into their learning program. For example:

  • each day children sort their own food scraps for the different destinations (chickens, compost or worms)
  • children also collect chicken eggs daily and take them to the kitchen for use by the in-house chef
  • children tend to the huge veggie patch, often collecting their harvest and cooking with it or giving it to the in-house chef to cook with
  • each month the centre hosts Garden Club which is for kids and parents alike

Learning Program

The Fit Kidz Learning for Life™ Early Education Program is for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. The program is based on the latest early childhood studies, our experiences and beliefs, and also the new national Early Years Learning Framework which describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming.

Children also participate in daily art, music, exercise, cooking, incursions, excursions and more, led by the children’s interests and skill base.

The Team

Fit Kidz believes that the single most important part of their offering is our team and sees their team as their greatest asset! They believe that as their representatives, the qualities of the team will always be the true measure of their success.

The Centre has a raft of skilled and caring educators who have been with the Centre for many years. The wonderful Miss Helen has been with Fitkidz for many years, formerly as an educator and now as the Director! She makes great use of her bilingualism by teaching children Mandarin, interpreting for families and providing written translations of documentation for the Centre.

Each of the Fit Kidz educators bring their own personal skills and interests into play during their time with the children, from art to sports and more.

Staff pride themselves on building strong relationships with not only the children in their care but also the families. Their aim is to get to know each and every family which helps children feel secure and comfortable, and they work hard at fostering connections so that the centre feels like home.
