Shopping centre play areas can be a lifesaver on days when it’s hot, raining or if you need an incentive to get the kids to the shops! Here’s the scoop on all our local shopping centre play areas.
Westfield Chatswood
1 Anderson St, Chatswood
Find the Urban Escape Playground on Level 3 near Double Chin Eats. Inspired by nature and the outdoors, it features soft play, a treehouse and a slide and is designed for children aged 1–8. The playground closes between 1pm and 1.30pm each day for cleaning.

Top Ryde City Shopping Centre
Corner Devlin Street and Blaxland Road, Ryde
There are quite a few kids’ play areas at Top Ryde Shopping Centre. Firstly, the Piazza does a pretty solid job of keeping kids entertained, often through meal times, as it is surrounded by cafes and restaurants.
You’ll also find another small fenced play area in the food court, which can be handy for hungry parents.
The biggest play area can be found on level 1 near the Leaf Cafe. There are 3 sections to the area – an interactive zone with books, screen and colouring, a climbing zone with a rock climbing wall, multiple slides, rope ladder and tunnel. Then there is a separate soft fall play area, great for little kids.
Carlingford Court Shopping Centre
Corner Pennant Hills Rd & Carlingford Rd, Carlingford
Although small, this little play area offers enough to give parents a bit of respite while resting in the nearby chairs. You’ll find this play area on level 1 opposite Bing Lee, and it’s perfect for kids 0-4. They can play noughts & crosses and use the interactive play panels to move little cars, coloured beads, building bolts & more!
North Rocks Shopping Centre
328-336 North Rocks Road, North Rocks
This small play area next to Pronto Cafe is perfect for kids aged 0-4 and features a play gym maze. For older kids (around 4-8), there’s a much larger outdoor but undercover play area near Rocks Pantry Cafe, close to Kmart.

Burwood Westfield

On Level 3, near Woolworths, you’ll find a new kids play area best suited to children 1-5 years of age, including a small, netted obstacle course, slides, netting and foam steps.
Parramatta Westfield
159-175 Church St, Parramatta
Jungle Play at Westfield Parramatta is a fun indoor space for kids aged 2-5 to climb, slide, and explore. Located on Level 2 near Best & Less, it’s a great spot for little ones to play and burn off energy.
Hornsby Westfield
236 Pacific Hwy, Hornsby
Westfield Hornsby offers multiple play areas for children:
- Playworld on Level 2: Located near Baby Bunting, this new play area features a little cubby, giant chess, spinners, and a small bridge structure, providing a fun space for toddlers.
- Play Area near Aldi: Situated on Level 2 near Aldi, this triple-level Playworld includes slides and various play equipment, catering to children up to 6 years old.
Birkenhead Point
19 Roseby St, Drummoyne
Birkenhead Point Brand Outlet offers several play areas for young children:
- Play Land: Designed for visitors under the age of 6, Play Land is located on the ground floor next to Priceline.
- Additional Play Areas: There are two other play areas within the centre:
- On Level 1, across from Sandler.
- On Level 3, near Muffin Break and the Parents’ Room.
These areas are suitable for children under 6, with the Level 1 and Level 3 play areas being more appropriate for children under 3 years old.
Additionally, there’s a fenced playground outside by the marina and a small beach area for building sandcastles, providing more options for children’s play.
Broadway Shopping Centre

Wow, wow, wow! Broadway’s indoor play area, located on Level 3 next to Priceline, offers plenty to keep little ones entertained. It features a large tube slide, a climbing frame, two built-in mini trampolines, a short climbing wall, and a hot air balloon-shaped structure for exploring.
Bunnings Warehouse
Between the playground, kids’ trolleys, cafe and craft activities on weekends and school holidays, Bunnings knows how to keep families happy! Rydalmere, Lidcombe and Artarmon are the closest centres.

DFO Homebush

A brand-new kids’ play area opened at DFO Homebush in June 2026, featuring three free indoor playgrounds under one roof. There’s an adventure playground for children aged 3–12, complete with climbing walls, slides, tunnels and interactive features, plus separate play spaces catering to different ages. It’s a great spot for kids to burn off some energy while you take a break from shopping!
Artarmon Hill
1 Frederick Street, Artarmon
Artarmon Hill is a modern indoor play area on the Lower Ground Floor near Barbeques Galore and Fantastic Furniture. Designed for children aged 2–6, it includes climbing mounds, a tunnel and a slide.
