MultiLit helps low progress readers improve their literacy skills through direct, systematic and intensive tutoring of key reading and related skills of literacy. MultiLit offers a range of research-based programs to students of all ages.

MultiLit Literacy Centre Macquarie Park is currently seeking Casual Tutors to deliver MultiLit programs to low progress readers aged 6 years and over. Literacy Centre programs are delivered on a one-to-one basis. Tutors deliver programs from our Macquarie Park office either face to face or online to students across Australia. Full initial and ongoing training in our programs and procedures is provided. Tutors work in a supportive and collegial environment supervised by senior staff members. Student programs are monitored by MultiLit Directors and contribute to ongoing literacy research through our research unit.

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Delivery of MultiLit programs as prescribed by MultiLit Directors for low progress readers of all ages.
  • Ongoing consultation with senior staff regarding student progress.
  • Development of supportive and positive relationships with students and families through positive teaching and regular feedback sessions
  • Delivery of individual assessments to monitor student progress
  • Administration responsibilities including data entry, test scoring and general Literacy Centre maintenance as required
  • Tutors are asked to make availability during NSW Public school terms and school holidays

 

Skills and experience

Essential criteria:

  • Consistent availability for morning (7:00am to 12:00pm), afternoon (2:00pm to 7:00pm) and/or Saturday (8:00am to 12:00pm) sessions per term
  • High level written and communication skills
  • Commitment to research-based reading instruction for low progress readers
  • Current Working with Children Check for paid employment

 

Desirable criteria

  • Current or future qualifications in Education, Speech and Language or Psychology (applications from current students will be considered)
  • Experience delivering MultiLit programs
  • Experience working with children in an educational or therapeutic setting
