Grand Street Parade
The festivities kick off at 9.30am with a 2,000-strong Grand Street Parade celebrating Eastwood’s vibrant and diverse community. Be sure to get in early to grab a prime spot on Rowe Street!

Green Hub
The City of Ryde’s Green Hub will be hosting all things environment, waste and sustainability for all ages. Located on Hillview road, there’ll be loads of fun ways that kids can touch, play and learn about how plastic impacts on our waterways.

Kids Hub
Make sure to visit this free kids play area located on the grounds of Eastwood Public School. Here kids can enjoy games, face painting, backyard bugs, stage shows, engage in interactive play and more!

The CORE Youth Hub
Operated by the Ryde Youth Council, The Core will be highlighted by the Apple Jam Block Party which includes open dance battles, silent disco and a talent quest.

Big Apple Singing Competition
Children under 15 and those 15+ will get the chance to show off their singing talents on the big stage with prizes to be won!

Oval Highlights
From carnival rides and circus workshops, to the animal farm, a stage performance by Hi-5 and fireworks, the Oval is a must do and will be non-stop fun all day long!

The market is held twice a month on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month in Halvorsen Park, and features an exciting line up of high-quality fresh food, drink, artisan and handmade stalls.

Halvorsen Park is right by the river, offering a beautiful backdrop for browsing through stalls, enjoying the delicious food and drink on offer, and catching up with friends and family. 

This market was launched in partnership with City of Parramatta Council.

Tumble into the wonderful world of circus these school holidays with Gravity & Other Myths in a brand new acrobatics workshop for ages 5-12 years.

Acrobat’s Academy is a rare opportunity for kids to meet and learn from the world-renowned acrobats of Gravity & Other Myths. Guided by these highly acclaimed artists, kids will exercise skills of coordination, strength, teamwork and self-expression in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

In a 90-minute session, participants will watch an excerpt from A Simple Space â€“ a multi-award winning show that has been performed more than 500 times across 24 countries. Following this inspiring performance, kids will divide into smaller groups to warm up and explore their physical potential through movement games, floor-based acrobatics and group acrobatics.

No previous experience is required – Acrobat’s Academy is an inclusive workshop where all skill levels are welcome. Following the sold-out season of April’s holiday workshop program, booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Acrobat’s Academy is Gravity & Other Myth’s first dedicated children’s workshop program in Sydney and is presented by Barangaroo Delivery Authority as part of a year-round program of leading-edge events and inspirational public art.

West Ryde Miniature Railway

The Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society was formed in 1948 on its present site. It is located on the corner of Anthony Rd and Betts St behind West Ryde shopping centre and opens on the THIRD Saturday afternoon of each month from 1.30pm to around 4.30pm.

The Society has three miniature railways on which offer rides on trains hauled by miniature steam locomotives. The park grounds are a popular location for children’s birthday parties or small group afternoon gatherings. For the enthusiast, it is a good spot to just lie back and watch those steam trains work hard pulling heavily loaded passenger trains!

There is a kiosk which sells drinks, ice cream, cakes, chips, etc. Entry is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Rides are $2 each for all ages.

Buzz Explorers is fun hands-on Science Playshops that will excite and amaze. If your child loves exploring or never stops asking questions about why and how things work this is one for you! Through play and investigation, Buzz Explorers aims to nurture your child’s curiosity. Workshops support the development of observation and problem-solving skills whilst your mini scientist learns about the world around them.

The first event Glow is on the 21st October and introduces light and shadows. The event includes exploration of light cubes, investigating shadows and having fun with reflections. All Buzz Explorer events include a take-home art and craft activity.

Sessions are held at Lindfield Guide Hall, Two Turners Reserve, Gladstone Parade, Lindfield.

Toddlers session 10-11am

Preschool session 11:30am-12:30pm

 

Sessions run for one hour and up to fifteen children may attend each session. There are two sessions running, one for toddlers (1-2 years) and one for preschool-aged children (3-5 years). If you have two children that span these age ranges please book for the toddler session but inform via email and they will ensure that they cater for your older child (for safety reasons it is advised that 1-2 year olds do not attend the preschool sessions).

The sessions begin with educator-led activities and then the children will be given time for hands on exploration. Some activities will require parental support and we actively encourage you to engage with your child throughout. The educator will be present and will be on hand to help at all times.

Now in its 29th year, the annual Crows Nest Festival will be held on Sunday 21st October 2018. Each year the festival grows, it is estimated the Crows Nest Festival attracts fifty thousand people during the day, each of them focussed on sharing in the community spirit that exists as a result of up to 200 stall holders, 4 stages and entertainment areas, inflatable rides, petting zoo, pony rides, craftspeople, street entertainers and musicians merging together for the benefit of Crows Nest.

The Crows Nest Festival spans from the five ways at Pacific Highway, up Willoughby Rd to Atchison St – the entire shopping precinct of Crows Nest.
