Katie O’Reilly, Francisco Valencia Cepeda, Margaret Mayger

Are you part or have you been part of a political party? If so, which one?

Labor

Tell us a bit about you and your team?  What’s your day job?

Bernard Purcell: I have a broad life experience job-wise – Registered Nurse, Teacher, Media Producer and Councillor.

Katie O’Reilly: Local born and bred. While still bringing up her 3 sons, Katie does office administration for several companies.

Francisco Valencia Cepeda: Local Medical Doctor – working in the public health system for personalised home assistance among other health initiatives.

Margaret Mayger: Retired High School teacher. A pillar of the Ryde community for decades. I had the pleasure of running with Margaret as Labor’s number 2 candidate in Central Ward in 2017.

What are some things you love about living in the area?

Cultural diversity.

Parks and open spaces.

Our green belt that starts at the Parramatta River.

The local Labor team.

What do you believe to be the 3 main issues affecting our community?

Housing, inappropriate development, environmental care

What are the 3 key things you plan to achieve?

Increased affordable housing, championing reasonable development across Ryde, maintaining our work for environmental care.

What about your long term vision for the area?

There are several fabulous inter-governmental projects to develop green links throughout Ryde. These, and other projects, are important to our general amenity and passive movement through Ryde. We also need to develop smarter, greener, digital businesses in Macquarie Park and around Ryde to replace manufacturing.

Other Comments

I love being a Councillor, it’s as simple as that. Being in local government means that you are there for people: to help them with their local issues. If its local parking, footpaths or parks etc. I can offer assistance to fix the issue. If it’s a bigger issue like public transport, conservation or planning etc. I can always represent you to state and federal ministers. I am asking you to support me in these upcoming Local Government elections to represent you again and put our community first.
