Queen Elizabeth Park Playground, Concord

If you’re after a beautiful, shady playground with plenty to offer kids of all ages, Queen Elizabeth Park in Concord is a fantastic choice. Just a short drive from Ryde, this thoughtfully designed play space ticks all the boxes for a relaxed morning or afternoon out with the kids.

🛝 What You’ll Find

This fully fenced playground boasts a natural feel, with established trees providing ample shade—perfect for those warmer days. The soft-fall surfaces and well-thought-out layout make it ideal for little ones finding their feet, while older kids will enjoy the climbing structures and adventure elements.

Play equipment highlights include:

  • A three-bay swing set

  • An adventure unit for older children

  • Sand and water play areas

  • A cubby house

  • A nature trail

  • Sensory-based activities

  • An outdoor learning circle

  • Musical instruments for sensory fun

The playground’s inclusive design ensures children of all abilities can enjoy the space. Wide, smooth-surfaced paths allow easy access between different play areas.

🚻 Toilets? Yes – But Bring Your Walking Shoes

Yes, there are public toilets at Queen Elizabeth Park, but they’re not immediately adjacent to the playground. You’ll find them closer to the car park near the sports fields, which is about a 3–5 minute walk from the play area, depending on little legs. If you have kids who leave it to the last second, it’s worth keeping that in mind.

🌿 Other Park Features

Queen Elizabeth Park is more than just a playground—it’s a whole day out. There’s a large open grassy area perfect for picnics, kicking a ball, or even flying a kite. Plus, if you have little scooter riders or budding cyclists, there are paved paths throughout the park that are great for cruising around.

The park also contains a significant remnant of the endangered ecological community, the Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest, and is home to a variety of bird and animal species .

đźš— Parking and Coffee

There’s plenty of free parking in the on-site car park off Broughton Street and surrounding streets.

As for coffee, while Majors Bay Road—the main cafĂ© strip in the area—is not immediately adjacent to the playground, it’s within walking distance. The walk from the playground to Majors Bay Road is approximately 700–800 metres, translating to about a 10-minute walk for adults, potentially longer with young children or prams. CafĂ©s like Espresso Organica, Cucina Espresso, and Espresso 96 are located there, offering great coffee and kid-friendly options.
