Now Open – URBNSURF Sydney Olympic Park!

URBNSURF Sydney Olympic Park is now open! We’ve already tried and tested NSW’s first-ever surf park (and Australia’s second venue) and the reviews are in – the kids absolutely loved it and are hanging to go again! Check out our Instagram Reel here. Keep reading to find out more about this awesome venue and the RDM special we’ve scored for you.

5 years in the making, this 3.2-hectare, $50 million artificial surf park provides perfect, ocean-like waves in an authentic, safe and controlled environment, catering for all ages and abilities (6years+).

With six different wave settings, there’s something for all abilities and a pathway to accelerate your progression. Waves come in 8 lots with breaks in between and are set to different intensities throughout the day to ensure all skill levels have time to surf waves they can handle.

Lessons

URBNSURF offers lessons for everyone from beginners to advanced surfers who want to work on specific techniques. Our children had never surfed before so had a dry-land beginner lesson where they learned safety techniques, basic surf etiquette and board control. They also practised kneeling and standing.

Lessons are split into Adults (13 & over) and All Ages (6 & over). They recommend anyone under the age of 10 to have a complimentary ‘Parent / Guardian’ Ticket to help manage their board in the current and return to the line-up.

Our kid’s instructor was experienced and patient, and helped the kids make great progress during their hour session. We were so impressed!

Water Temperature

The water is not heated but wetsuits will ensure surfers are very toasty – our kids weren’t cold in the slightest. In fact, their skin was warm to the touch under the wetsuit! So winter needn’t be a deterrent for having a surf.

Food and retail

In terms of food options, choose between a premium restaurant with a rooftop terrace RAFI and the all-day waterfront eatery Sandy’s plus serviced cabanas and event lawns. The food looked stellar.

You’ll also find a Rip Curl shop at URBNSURF for anything extra you might need e.g. sunscreen, towels, hats, swimwear, sunglasses, clothes, plenty of surf equipment and more.

Amenities

Memberships, sessions, lessons, swim & spectator passes all give you access to URBNSURF Sydney’s amenities, including change rooms, storage lockers, a lagoonside leisure pool and more. If you’re chasing a delicious meal or a few drinks with friends, pop by Sandy’s or RAFI and enjoy incredible views of the surfing action while you relax.

Pricing

Prices start at $35, up to $170 depending on age and requirements.

For our session, a child pass + beginner lesson was $104 for 1 hour and included a wet suit, board + 45 dry-land training before the water session.
