There is no doubt the cost of petrol is in everyone’s mind at the moment. We have put together 8 ways you can save petrol!
Fuel Vouchers
This is the most well-known strategy – save 4c a litre when you spend $30+ at Coles or Woolworths. Woolworths vouchers are saved onto your Rewards card (if you have one) but Coles vouchers are still in paper form at the bottom of your shopping receipt. Simply present to the cashier when you pay for your petrol.
NSW Fuel Check App
The NSW Government NSW Fuel app is an online tool designed to provide consumers with real-time information about fuel prices at every service station across NSW. View the website version here. This is a great app as you can filter by the type of petrol you use in your car (e.g. 91 or 98).
7 Eleven App
Yes, 7 Eleven has an app too, and not only does it offer in-store specials, but it also has a ‘Fuel Price Lock’. Select your fuel type and if it is a price you like, you can lock that price in and use it anytime within the next 7 days at that particular location. Learn more about their app and its features here.
Extra 4 cents savings at Woolworths Petrol
In addition to the 4 cent fuel saving from your Woolworths Rewards card or receipt, you can also save an extra 4 cents per litre when you spend $5+ at the Woolworths petrol station. 2L milk and loaf of bread surely never go to waste and will save you almost $5 when you fuel up. That means the 2L milk and loaf of bread are basically free!
PLUS you also get Woolworths Reward points for money spent in-store.
Flybuys
If you get your petrol at Coles Express you can collect FlyBuys points, then convert the points to $$ for later use (possibly on more petrol..). You will collect 1 Flybuys point for every $2 spent at Coles Express across all in-store and fuel purchases when you scan your Flybuys card.
Tyre Pressure
When was the last time you checked the pressure in your tyres? It is important to make sure your tyres have the right pressure in them all the time. If it is a little bit flat, your car uses more effort to drive and therefore uses more petrol.
What’s in your car?
Hands up if you have kids scooters, helmets, prams, picnic chairs and other family essentials in the boot or back seats. All of these weigh your car down and therefore your car needs to work harder, using more petrol! So check your boot and take out things you aren’t using to make your car lighter.
