Cherrybrook’s newly upgraded Edward Bennett Oval Playground reopened August 2026, and it’s a great option for families with children of different ages.
The playground is fully fenced, has plenty of shade and includes dedicated areas for toddlers and bigger kids. With toilets, BBQs, seating and a walking track around the adjoining sports field, it’s also well set up for a longer visit.
The Bigger Kids’ Area
The standout feature is the seven-metre play tower, complete with climbing ropes and slides.
Older and more adventurous kids can also test themselves on the parkour-style climbing structure, rock-climbing elements and monkey bars. There’s a good mix of climbing, balancing and active play, with plenty to keep bigger kids interested.
The Toddler Area
Younger children have their own section with lower-level equipment, a junior slide and a car/truck for imaginative play.
Across the playground, there’s also an in-ground trampoline, hammock, nature balance beams and plenty of swings—including two baby swings, two standard swings and a large basket swing.
Fully Fenced and Shaded
The entire playground is fenced and has multiple entry points.
There’s lots of shade from established trees, along with a shade sail over part of the playground. Additional shade-tree planting has also been included as part of the upgrade.
Seating is positioned throughout the play space, making it easier for parents and carers to keep an eye on children across the different areas.
Family-Friendly Facilities
The practical facilities are a big win for families. There are onsite toilets with a sink and soap, along with picnic shelters, accessible seating, an accessible electric double BBQ and a drinking bubbler.
The combination of fencing, toilets, seating and BBQ facilities makes this playground a good option for picnics, playdates and children’s parties.
Getting There
Edward Bennett Oval Playground is located on Edward Bennett Drive, Cherrybrook. Street parking is available around the oval. New pathways also connect the playground to the walking track around the sports field, providing extra space for bikes, scooters or a family walk.
