The New Ryde Civic Centre – HAVE YOUR SAY!

posted in: Community ?, Life | 0

Community space is worth its weight in gold, so we were super excited to hear that the City of Ryde is proposing a four-fold increase in community facilities in Ryde as part of its new vision for the Civic Centre site.

With our RDM hats on, we – with kids in tow – got the chance to chat with Mayor Jerome Laxale at the site about what this new space will mean for mums (and had our moment of fame in the local newspaper!).

We’re happy to say that there’ll be a flexibly-designed, multi-purpose space, meaning more room for community groups like ours. Located directly opposite Top Ryde City shopping centre, it’s in a great location and will be ideal for mums groups. Childcare facilities and public meeting rooms, as well as a heap of other great features, are being proposed in the concept plan.

Best of all, Council has promised there’ll be no rate rises to fund it and no cuts to existing services for this project.

Now’s the chance to tell City of Ryde what you think of the proposal.

Visit www.ryde.nsw.gov.au/heart to have your say through the short survey and find out more information including when you can drop by one of the community roadshow sessions. These are being held around the City over the next few weeks, with lots of dates over the school holidays.
