Eastwood’s favourite festival is back on Saturday 21st October 2023 from 9am – 8.30pm! Beginning in 1985, The Granny Smith Festival is now regarded as one of Sydney’s largest street events, in which the community comes together to celebrate the life of Maria Ann ‘Granny’ Smith and her Granny Smith apple.

Celebrating 38 years, the festival will feature old favourites and new activities, with amusement rides, market stalls, food trucks, performances, youth zone, kids activities and ending the night with a Celebrity Performance and Fireworks Spectacular!

The true strength and success of the Granny Smith Festival is its community character which sees over 230 stall holders attend, 880 performing artists and 700 local participants who proudly take part in the grand street parade. For the complete rundown of the day check out this comprehensive program.

There’s plenty of fun activities on offer for the kids!

Visit the Apple Shed at Eastwood Public School Hall to learn the history of Maria Ann Smith, get a free program and take a spin on the Granny Smith Wheel of Fortune. Every spinner will receive a free apple thanks to Woolworths!

The Apple Shed will have a range of live stage shows throughout the day, special visits and photo opportunities with Granny Smith and Sweetie Pie at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm PLUS farm animals at the petting zoo from 9.00am till 3.00pm.
While at Eastwood Public School, make sure to check out the Circus Playground between 9am and 3.30pm, a circus-inspired workshop area with juggling, diabolos, devil sticks, pedalos, twirling things, hula-hoops, walking beams and hand-held stilts.

Circus not only teaches essential hand-eye coordination and balance, it is also a fun confidence-building activity that is very beneficial to a child’s development as well as being accessible to all age groups – children, young people and adults alike.

The area will also feature free face painting and sideshow alley games for all ages to enjoy.
