THIS is a playground worth travelling for – Sydney Park Playground in Alexandria is one of Sydney’s best family-friendly destinations.

Located within the huge 41-hectare Sydney Park, this enormous adventure playground combines climbing structures, giant slides, bike tracks, skate facilities and wide open green space, making it easy to spend several hours here with kids of different ages.

Rather than a standard flat playground, the whole space feels designed for exploring, climbing and moving.

It’s a fantastic space for kids to build confidence while practising basic road rules in a safe environment. There’s also a shaded beginner area nearby, along with picnic spaces and BBQ facilities, making it easy to spend a few hours here.

Huge Skate Park

Sydney Park is also home to one of the biggest skate parks in Sydney. The huge space caters to skateboards, scooters and BMX riders, with beginner areas, street-style obstacles, rails, ledges, bowls and a massive flow bowl for experienced riders.

It’s a great addition for older kids and teens and helps make Sydney Park suitable for a really wide age range.

Beyond The Playground

Beyond the playground areas, Sydney Park also features walking and cycling paths, rolling hills, wetlands, city skyline views and huge grassy areas perfect for picnics or kicking a ball around.

There’s a café kiosk located close to the playground and bike track, plus shaded seating, BBQ facilities, water bubblers and public toilets nearby.

The park is also dog-friendly, with large off-leash areas throughout much of the parklands.
