Strathfield Park – WOW!

Strathfield Park received a major revamp in late 2017, and after ongoing enhancements, it features two distinct playground precincts, plus sports fields, courts, and amenities—making it one of the most impressive playgrounds in the area.

The main playground is located is located on the Homebush Road side and the other smaller playground is on the Chalmers Road side on the opposite side of the block.

Homebush Road Play Area

  • A giant, all‑abilities playground spanning roughly 2,225 m², thoughtfully designed for children of all ages and abilities.
  • Packed with slides, flying foxes, climbing frames, sensory play, and more—perfect to keep older kids entertained for hours.
  • The layout and volume of equipment mean even multiple visits won’t let you try everything—it truly is six playgrounds in one!

Chalmers Road Play Area – Toddler & Bike Track Haven

  • Home to an educational scooter/bike track complete with road signs, markings, and roundabouts—fantastic for teaching road safety.
  • Adjacent play equipment includes a mini train, swings, and climbing structures, ideal for toddlers or kids overwhelmed by the busier side.

Shared Amenities & Facilities

  • Public toilets located between the two playgrounds in a central rotunda.
  • Multiple BBQs, shaded picnic shelters, and ample seating spread across the park—party-ready facilities!
  • Great for family events, birthday parties, or casual weekend hangouts.

Beyond the Playgrounds

Strathfield Park isn’t just play—it’s a true community hub:

  • Features synthetic and grass fields used for soccer and cricket.
  • Offers multi-purpose courts for basketball, netball, volleyball, and even pickleball.
  • Completed enhancements include lit pathways, outdoor gym equipment, upgraded hard courts, and an amphitheatre-style seating area—all elements of the final stage of the revitalisation master plan.
  • Includes a new storage facility for council staff, widened pathways (even for event vehicles), and increased tree planting for added shade.

Planning Your Visit

  • Food & Coffee: None available onsite—pack snacks, drinks, or lunch.
  • Parking: Free street parking along both Homebush and Chalmers Roads—but weekends get busy.
  • Best Time to Visit: Weekdays are ideal to avoid the crowds. The park is large, so even when busy, it rarely feels overcrowded.

Getting There

Strathfield Park lies between Homebush Road and Chalmers Road, Strathfield. Street parking is available along both roads. On weekends, spots fill up quickly, so weekdays are best if you want a stress‑free visit.
