We’ve been working with Macquarie Centre for a few years now, and they’ve had us on many a mission in the name of food, fashion, entertainment and more. This particular mission involved Panetta Mercato, which they consider to be fresh food, deli and grocery heaven! Here’s what we discovered.

First, location. You will find Panetta Mercato on Level 3 at the top of the travelator near Aldi and Tender Gourmet Butchery. We were very pleased to discover that they are open 7.30am to 7pm, 7 days a week (and until 9pm on Thursdays). If you’re anything like us, having the flexibility shop later on weekdays and early on weekends is essential!

We always enjoy learning about the back story of the businesses we work with. Panetta Mercato has been family owned and operated since 1999 and they are coming up to their 20th birthday in early May! While they are of Italian origin, they stock a large range of international products such as dairy products, bread, nuts, pasta, organic and gluten-free products and deli items, and of course fruit and vegetables!

Best of all, all fresh produce is sourced straight from the wholesale market and growers each day, with a focus on seasonal produce as well as the staples.

So what do they sell?

• A huge variety of fresh fruit & vegetables, including fresh sliced fruit (do yourself a favour and try their cut pineapple!)
• Huge selection of specials at the front of the store – a wonderful way to pick up a bargain
• Fridge wall full of various lettuces/sprouts & leaves
• Boxes of fresh herbs, including potted ones to take home
• Big fridge cabinets full of olives, sun dried tomatoes in a variety of flavours, hundreds of different cheese, cold meats
• Great selection of grocery items
• Ready-to-go dinner meals such as pasta, shepherds pie, pizza, dumplings
• Loads of Italian biscuits & slices (even spotted Lebanese baklava ;p)
• A freezer full of gelatos, ice creams & other desserts including mini gelato cones
• Fresh orange juice machine – available in small bottles or large bottles
• A MASSIVE selection of cereals & muesli – paleo, gluten-free, organic, diabetic suitable, fructose friendly and lots more options!
• An entire isle dedicated to pasta, including a variety of pasta sauce brands

Make sure you head into Macquarie Centre on Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st March 2019 to check out their fresh food markets to be held from 10am-3pm daily. There’s plenty on including tastings, presentations, and even activities for the kids!
