This calm, enclosed harbour beach is perfect for little ones – we think Parsley Bay, Vaucluse is hard to beat!
Tucked away in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, this spot has safe swimming, a playground, picnic space and even a hidden waterfall walk — making it an easy place to spend a full day.
Calm, Netted Swimming
The beach here is one of the biggest drawcards. You’ll find:
- a netted swimming area (best at high tide)
- shallow, gentle water for little kids
- calm conditions thanks to the sheltered bay
It’s ideal for younger swimmers, but if you walk along the path hugging the coastline, you’ll find slightly deeper water that suits older kids too.
Tip: Swimming is best at high tide, so it’s worth checking before you go.
Playground + Huge Grassy Area
Right next to the beach is a playground, perfect for a quick play before or after a swim.
There’s also a large grassy area, which is great for:
- Picnics
- Kicking a ball
- Letting the kids run around
The Hidden Waterfall Walk
This is such a fun extra that not everyone knows about. Behind the playground, there’s a short walking track (around 10 minutes) that leads to a small hidden waterfall — an easy little adventure for kids.
The track also connects to a longer coastal walk if you feel like extending your visit.
Suspension Bridge + Scenic Setting
One of the most iconic features here is the suspension bridge stretching across the bay. Kids love running across it, and it adds to the whole “hidden gem” feel of the place.
Surrounded by bushland and harbour views, it’s a really scenic spot that feels removed from the busier beaches.
Kiosk, Showers & Easy Facilities
Parsley Bay is very easy to spend time at, thanks to the facilities:
- Small kiosk for coffee, drinks and snacks
- Toilets and warm showers
- Picnic tables and shady spots
You can comfortably stay for a few hours without needing to leave.
Getting There
- On-site car park currently closed (Sydney Water works until late 2026)
- Street parking available on Parsley Road
- Short walk down into the bay
Parking is limited, so it’s best to arrive early on sunny days.
