Melrose Central is celebrating its grand opening with free family fun from Saturday 29th August, and it’s the big one!
Expect free face painting, balloon art, kids’ story time, a traditional Lion Dance, K-Pop performers, giveaways and even 300 free scoops of Anita Gelato.

What’s Happening on Saturday 29th August?
There’ll be free activities and entertainment throughout the day, so here’s what families can look forward to:
From 10am: 300 Free Scoops of Anita Gelato
Anita Gelato will be giving away 300 free scoops from 10am. Get there early, as they’re only available while stocks last! You’ll find Anita outside on the Upper Ground Level, at the corner of Lemon Tree Avenue and Hildegarde Boulevard.
10am–2pm: Koorong Books Family Fun Day
Enjoy free face painting, balloon art, hourly kids’ story time, author signings and giveaways. Hope 103.2 will also be broadcasting live from the store.
10am–2pm: More Face Painting and Balloon Art
Mancave Barber will also have free face painting and balloon creations for the kids.
11am–2pm: Lucky Cat Meet and Greet
Melrose Central’s playful Lucky Cat will be roaming through the centre and stopping for photos with families.
11am–3pm: Free Treats and Giveaways
Pick up a free Melrose Central tote bag packed with surprise treats, retailer offers and giveaways—including a collectible Bao Plushie. There’ll also be free popcorn and balloons available.
11am–3pm: Sweet Tastings
Stop by Profiterole Patisserie to sample a delicious selection of sweet treats.
From 12pm: Hello Harry The Burger Joint
Hello Harry The Burger Joint Giving away 100 x Free Smashed Beef Burgers
2.30pm–3pm: Traditional Lion Dance
Experience the colour, music and excitement of a traditional Lion Dance as it makes its way through the centre, beginning on the Upper Ground Level.
3pm–8pm: Neon Face Painting
Kids can light up their look with free neon face painting in Hometown on the Ground Level.
5pm–8pm: DJ, K-Pop and LED Entertainment
Stay into the evening for live DJs, K-Pop dancers and vibrant LED entertainment in Hometown.
Saturday 29th August also marks the official opening of iPLAY, bringing a new destination for arcade games, entertainment and family fun to Melrose Park.

Can’t make it on opening day—or keen to come back for more? The celebrations continue on Saturday 5th September with:
- Lucky Cat meet and greet from 11am–2pm
- Free Melrose Central giveaway bags from 11am–3pm
- Free popcorn and balloons
- Sweet tastings at Profiterole Patisserie from 11am–3pm
- Free neon face painting from 3pm–8pm
- Live DJs, K-Pop dancers and LED entertainment from 5pm–8pm
Lucky Cat will also be roaming through the centre on Sunday 30th August from 11am–2pm.
Throughout the celebrations, visitors can enjoy a free game in Hometown’s dedicated Mahjong Room and snap some fun photos with an oversized noodle box, giant dice and colourful Tuk Tuk.
