The 2.4ha that is John Wearn Reserve, Carlingford has just had a huge upgrade to the tune of $4.2 million and the result is masterful.

The upgrade includes:

  • new and improved playground
  • dog park
  • carpark
  • amenities block
  • skate park
  • fitness station
  • bbq facilities
  • multi-use court
  • picnic shelters
  • and a new stage with amphitheatre seating!

The safari-themed nature playground is located at the top of the reserve near Balaka Drive, which has its own dedicated carpark. Kids of all ages will love this playground, especially the safari animals, which make real-life noises as you approach them!

There are some shade sails over the play area as well as many mature trees to provide shade. The amphitheatre will also be getting a cover over the stage area, and one complete will make it a fantastic space for events, entertainment and community gatherings.

The multi-use court and skate parks are already getting plenty of use by children of all ages. The skate park has both deep bowls and small ramps to suit all abilities.

If that isn’t enough to love, the upgrade has seen the addition of 100 new trees and 26,000 plants to the site! Well done City of Parramatta, what a brilliant addition to the area.
