In our never-ending quest to bring you the latest and greatest from around town, we got wind of a new cafe in Burwood called Twinkle Kids Cafe and made a beeline to check it out! Located in Burwood Plaza, this cafe is a kids’ HEAVEN for about a gazillion reasons.
Entry
The cafe works on an entry fee model, which, if you go at the right time, can be as low as $15 for 2 kids for 2 hours. Adults are $4, which can be redeemed for a free coffee or hot beverage, and children under 12 months are free.
Play
After parking your pram, removing shoes (socks only!) and entering through the child-proof gate, the kids are free to explore! They can enjoy all kinds of activities from slides, to dress up, shops, cooking, toys, puzzles, a Lego wall and much more. Our kids particularly enjoyed the multi-level enclosed play structure that runs along the side of the cafe, ending in a colourful ball pit.
Best suited for kids aged 1 – 4 years old, Twinkle Kids Cafe is somewhere parents can actually relax for a while, knowing kids are just a few metres away and having a great time. Thanks to the cosy size of the venue and its floor plan, all play areas are visible from the tables, so keeping an eye on the kids is easy.
Food & Drink
The cafe section of the venue offers a combination of both tables and couches, which means you can comfortably enjoy a coffee (while breastfeeding a baby, as per the image below!) or order a bite to eat. Most menu items are around $10 and come in very cute mouse-shaped platters with fruit in one “ear” and sauce in the other – our kids thought it was great. The adults in our party split a beef burger, a Schnitty burger (not pictured) and enjoyed freshly squeezed juices and beautifully made coffees.
Birthday Parties

Parking
Burwood Plaza has a multi-level undercover car park which is free for 2 hours. On the way out, we took the opportunity to do the weekly grocery shop at Woolies on the Ground Floor, seeing as the kids were now tuckered out!
