We are looking for a passionate cook/chef who has a love for fresh food, cooking and children, with an understanding of the requirements of cooking within a child care setting in Epping. We have a strong commitment to the provision of nutritious, fresh, healthy meals for the children in our service. We encourage our cooking staff to get creative in the kitchen and are open to a range of variety of foods and new tastes for our children. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude who is outgoing and able to engage in conversation with children, families and educators as well as having an open outlook on trying new things whilst in consultation with families and educators.
About the role
The successful candidate will plan, prepare and cook fresh meals for 57 children daily on-premises in Epping.
Monday to Friday – varying between 2-5 days – Casual Employment
Hours – 8am – 1.00pm
- Preparing fresh meals at the centre each day
- Participating in weekly menu planning
- Catering for and preparing separate meals for children with allergies and additional needs
- Weekly ordering of ingredients, following up of items that are missing
- End of shift cleaning and sanitising throughout the Kitchen
- Liaising with the director, talking about and taking on feedback and guidance about menu plans and preparation of meals
- Answering phone calls
A successful applicant will possess the following skills & experience:
- Certificate in Food Handling
- Certificate in Menu Planning
- Experience cooking meals for large groups of children in the childcare setting
- Permanent Resident/ Australian Citizen
