The City of Ryde’s Lunar New Year Festival returns to Eastwood on Saturday 28 February 2026, celebrating the Year of the Horse with a full afternoon and evening of culture, food, entertainment and family fun.
Festivities will take place across Koreatown (Railway Parade), Eastwood Oval and West Parade, running from 12 noon through to 9pm, finishing with a spectacular fireworks display!

📍 Railway Parade
Start the day in Eastwood’s Koreatown precinct, where families can immerse themselves in Lunar New Year traditions.
Children can enjoy:
• Pony rides
• Free Lunar New Year themed face painting
• Free cookie decorating workshops
• Free lantern making
• Participate in an interactive community mural
You can also (at no cost):
• Receive New Year good fortune from traditional calligraphers
• Dress in a traditional Korean Hanbok
• Capture the moment at the free photobooth
• See live performances will run on the Koreatown Stage from 12 noon to 4.30pm
Food Hubs & Seating

Enjoy a wide range of Asian cuisine from food stalls, trucks and local restaurants. Seating areas will be available so you can relax and make a day (and night) of it.
Carnival at Eastwood Oval

From 4pm, the celebrations continue at Eastwood Oval, where the festival transforms into a lively carnival experience.
Families can:
• Ride the giant slide
• Drive dodgem cars
• Enjoy classic carnival rides and games
• Grab a showbag
Ride coupons will be available for purchase from on-site ticket booths.*
Free face painting and lantern decorating will also be available, along with another opportunity to receive your New Year blessing from traditional calligraphers.
Walk through the market stalls to find a variety of different stalls. There’s something for everyone!
Main Stage Highlights
📍 Oval Stage
From 5pm, the Lion High Pole Performance is always a festival highlight — an impressive display of athleticism and tradition.
The evening builds to the Fire Horse Finale before concluding with a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.
