A Playground for Everyone

Originally established in 2017 through a partnership between The Hills Shire Council and the Touched by Olivia Foundation, Livvi’s Place was designed as an all-abilities playground, promoting inclusive play for children of all ages and abilities. The recent enhancements have further elevated its offerings, ensuring that every child, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, can enjoy the facilities.

New Features and Facilities

The upgraded playground now boasts a variety of new features:

• An accessible multi-activity play tower with slides, ramps, and climbing nets.
• A double flying fox equipped with harness seats suitable for all abilities.
• Additional swings designed for both toddlers and older children.
• A dry creek bed and sensory gardens to encourage nature-based play.
• An accessible amenities building, featuring a ‘Changing Places’ room with an overhead hoist, shower, toilet, and ambulant unisex cubicles.

These additions complement existing features like

• shaded water play area
• musical play walk
• in-ground trampolines
• picnic shelters

Community Impact

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr. Michelle Byrne, highlighted the significance of the upgrade:

“This upgrade means Livvi’s Place can be enjoyed by even more children of all abilities, giving them a place to play, explore, and connect in a safe and engaging environment.”

The project was jointly funded by The Hills Shire Council and the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) Program, with $1.1 million allocated specifically to the Livvi’s Place project.

• Fenced: Yes – the playground is fully enclosed, providing a safe environment for children.

• Toilets: Yes – accessible toilets are available within the adjacent Bernie Mullane Sports Complex.

• Shade: Partial – shade sails cover parts of the playground, including seating and some equipment. However, the water play area and certain play zones lack shade, so bringing hats and sunscreen is recommended.

• Surface: Soft-fall rubber, bark, and sand – providing a safe and varied play surface.

• Parking: Ample free on-site parking is available, including accessible parking spots directly in front of the playground.

• Nearby coffee: A kiosk is located within the Bernie Mullane Sports Complex, offering coffee and light refreshments.
