Lunar New Year 2025: Celebrating the Year of the Snake in Ryde
The City of Ryde warmly invites the community to celebrate the Year of the Snake at the 2025 Lunar New Year Festival. This vibrant, family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, 8 February, at Eastwood Oval from 4pm to 9pm, concluding with a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.
The Lunar New Year, celebrated for over 4,000 years, marks the beginning of the lunar calendar and is a cherished tradition in many Asian cultures. The festival promises a captivating mix of traditional and contemporary festivities, including lion and dragon dances, cultural performances, and a special snake-themed show.
Stage Highlights
The stage program will begin at 4pm, offering a diverse lineup of performances that reflect Ryde’s rich cultural tapestry. Attendees can enjoy traditional Chinese and Taiwanese dances, K-Pop acts, and musical ensembles. At 5:00 PM, the Official Ceremony will feature the lion eye-dotting ritual and a high-pole lion dance, symbolising good fortune. The evening will conclude with a dramatic finale show, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.

The festival caters to all ages, with activities and attractions that include:
- Carnival Rides and Games: From dodgem cars to a giant slide, there is something for everyone. Showbags and carnival games will add to the fun, with ride coupons available for purchase at ticket booths.
