Spring is around the corner and Sydney is gearing up to get outdoors and celebrate! Here’s 8 local events that are absolutely worth visiting.

Lane Cove Festival

Friday 26th August – 30th September 2022

Each September, Lane Cove Council celebrate everything that is great about living in Lane Cove with an annual month-long program of community and Council-run activities.

The Festival launch is Friday 26 August, 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Lane Cove Plaza. Celebrate the launch of the 30th year of the Lane Cove Festival with an afternoon of fun and excitement in Lane Cove Plaza. This family-friendly event with children’s activities including a craft workshop and some magical performances. Bring the family down to the Lane Cove Plaza to experience a spectacular children’s magician, a DJ, and talented young performers.

Emerge Festival 2022

Thursday 1st September – Sunday 9 October 2022

Emerge is a time to come out in the Spring warmth and discover the hidden gems that are in Willoughby. With over 70 events run by the community and Willoughby City Council, there’s something for everyone. Be part of large events like the annual Chatswood StreetFair and the Matsuri Japan Festival, to smaller intimate activities like bushwalks and workshops. There’s a whole lot to discover and learn at Emerge 2022.

At the Chatswood StreetFair see the local community groups strutting their stuff down Victoria Ave on Saturday 3 September 2022, starting at 10.30am.

Strathfield Spring Festival

Saturday 3rd September 2022

Strathfield’s largest event will be eld at Strathfield Park (located between Chalmers Road and Homebush Road) from 10am – 5pm. It attracts over 20,000 people from across the Inner West and wider Sydney for a fun filled day of carnival rides, headline entertainment, stalls, food, pony rides, roving entertainment, sports activations and more!

St Ives Food and Wine Festival

St Ives Food and Wine Festival will be held on 25 September 2022 from 10am – 4pm. Enjoy a fabulous day on the beautiful St Ives Village Green (opposite the shopping centre). Over 60 food, wine and lifestyle stalls for taste testers, take home packs, on-site food trucks, goodies for the home and so much more! Entertainment and activities for all ages from the very young to the young at heart! Gold coin donation on entry will support the charities in the local community benefiting from this event – this is a charity fundraiser event full of fun. St Ives Food and Wine Festival is organised by the Rotary Club of St Ives and is a fabulous community event that directly benefits our community.

Spot on Children’s Festival

27 September – 1 October 2022

It’s Spot On Children’s Festival 10th Birthday and Riverside is getting ready to party! Book your spot in the celebrations TODAY… you won’t want to miss out!

Running over five jam-packed days in September and October, this year’s festival features a fun-filled line-up of theatre, musical performances, physical comedy and circus acts, all guaranteed to keep your children entertained throughout the school holidays.

To help us in our birthday celebrations we have invited our friends at Playgroup NSW, who will transform the Riverside Courtyard into the PlayYard for Playgroup workshops and other playful experiences designed to engage your children and help them explore possibilities through play!

Granny Smith Festival

The long-awaited Granny Smith Festival (GSF) is making a comeback in 2022! Get ready for the old and the new in celebration of the life and legacy of one of City of Ryde’s most famous citizens, Maria Ann Smith – aka Granny Smith. You won’t want to miss this year’s GSF!

There will be:

? A colourful street parade

? Carnival rides

? 6 stages of entertainment

Wahroonga Food And Wine Festival

After 2 years of COVID hibernation, the 8th annual Wahroonga Food and Wine Festival returns to Wahroonga Park on Sunday 30 October 2022, 11am – 5pm. This is a FREE public event! Enjoy tasting premium wines and gourmet food, whilst the kids are entertained by face painting, all to live & local music.

Norton Street Italian Festa

On the last Sunday in October, more than 140,000 visitors are expected to fill Norton Street in Leichardt, the heart of Sydney’s ‘Little Italy’, for Italian food and entertainment, and enjoy being Italian for a day at the 31st annual Norton Street Italian Festa.

From 10am to 5pm Norton Street will be completely transformed by colour, sound and the cooking aromas of great Italian food, and by street activities and on-stage entertainment celebrating all things Italian.
