Part Time Cook & Kitchen Hand, Childcare - Ryde

Cressy Road Early Learning based in Ryde and is seeking a part time Cook and Kitchen Hand. The role is ideal for someone who wants to work mostly in the afternoons.

Our 68 place centre needs someone with excellent kitchen skills to prepare meals throughout the day for our children. Our current cook works part-time, and as our enrolments have increased it’s becoming an overwhelming role for her – so we’ve decided to get some help!

  • You will be on a split shift with another cook on alternate days, swapping over several times a week to catch up and debrief.
  • You will need to be available in the afternoons and all day Fridays, with an occasional extra day here and there. We can also be flexible around school holidays etc.
  • You will need to pass a Working with Children Check and within three months of starting complete first aid and food handling training. There are also some excellent courses in planning menus and working with children via the kitchen we would love you to attend, and we can support the right candidate to do all of this.
  • Our kitchen team also have a strong focus in our expansive garden – planting herbs and vegetables with the children, tending to the garden, and caring for our chickens! We pride ourselves on being a flexible and supportive workplace that have won countless awards for sector leadership and innovative and supportive management. We have a comprehensive HR and EAP, offer staff discounts for care, paid professional development and everyone gets to have their birthday off work!
  • Pay rate is around $22 -$25 per hour depending on experience and skills.
  • We are an equal opportunity employer with a range of cultures and lifestyles represented in our team, and around 25% of the team are male – so men are strongly encouraged to apply.

From one of our team: “I’ve worked for Nesha for 15 and a half years as an Educator and during my time I have worked with babies to pre-school age children. Nesha is a strong believer and supporter in children’s rights and education & the ongoing professional development of her staff. During my years I have been fortunate enough to have participated in many educational programs that Nesha has brought to the centre. With Nesha’s support and guidance, I was able to further my education and complete my Certificate III. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with many wonderful people over the years and wish everyone the best. If you’re looking for a job that will give you growth, support, be part of an awesome team and love what you do, then a job in childcare is for you.”
