Deepavali Festival, Parramatta Park

The Biggest & Best Deepavali Festival 2017 of Sydney is happening on 14th and 15th of October at Parramatta Park.

By popular demand it is on for 2 days with a Special Surprise Family Musical “RAMLEELA” at 7pm on 14th Oct.

Deepawali or Diwali is the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It is the festival of lights: deep means “light” and avali “a row,” or “a row of lights.” Diwali is marked by four days of celebration, which literally illuminates the communities with its brilliance and dazzles all with its joy.

The festival is also observed by Sikhs and Jains, with its main theme as the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The festival coincides with Hindu New year and light, seen as a metaphor for self-improvement, representing new beginnings. This festival celebrates the return of Lord Rama and his wife Sita to their kingdom after achieving victory over the demon king Ravana around 15th century BC.

The lights of Diwali also signify a time of inner illumination. Hindus believe that the light of lights is the one that steadily shines in the chamber of the heart. Sitting quietly and fixing the mind on this supreme light illuminates the soul. It is an opportunity to cultivate and enjoy eternal bliss.

Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) is celebrating the grand festival of Deepavali for the 5th year, at Martin Place on the 12th of October and at the Parramatta Park on 14th and 15th of October. This unique event celebrates the rich cultural diversity of India and is a must see for every Australian who is proud of our multicultural society. Our mission is To connect with the wider Australian community and deliver a sparkling slice of Indian culture and tradition.

Be a part of something big and feel proud with over 50K visitors expected for 2017.
