Chef, Angsana Early Learning Centre - North Rocks

Angsana Early Learning Centre is a newly built family-owned early learning centre with a passion for multilingual learning – we are looking for a Full Time Chef. We have created a purpose-built and designed centre for children aged 0-6 years old. A place of love, laughter, and learning. This is our children’s village! Our multilingual approach will give children the opportunity to take advantage of the optimal time in their lives to learn languages other than English – like Mandarin and Spanish. We believe our children need to be equipped with the skills to communicate effectively so that they can be independent, creative, and purposeful thinkers and learners. Our holistic program is developed around a play-and-learn pedagogy in a nurturing environment that will encourage your child to explore, develop resilience and experience the world at large.

Qualifications & experience

  • High level of proficiency in English both in verbal and written form
  • Certificate in Food Handling and Menu planning
  • Hold a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen, preferably in an Early Learning Centre
  • Awareness and understanding of NSW Food Authority guidelines.
  • Fully Vaccinated against COVID -19
  • Current first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training) and CPR
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Early Childhood Education qualification preferred

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Be able to prepare meals for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. Daily meals include breakfast, morning tea, lunch and dessert, afternoon tea, and a late snack.
  • To plan nutritional menus and keep them updated based on feedback from children, teachers, and families.
  • Be involved in sourcing fresh food ingredients and working with local suppliers/farmers and to undertake all ordering of food supplies to maintain a stocked pantry, fridge, and freezer according to the menu.
  • Manage Angsana’s fruit/vegetable garden.
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen/food store/dining room always. This will include daily cleaning tasks as well as specified cleaning audits throughout the year.
  • Able to cater for different dietary requirements and have sound knowledge and understanding of allergies and dietary requirements.
  • To ensure that industry food standards and company policies are implemented, in providing appropriate health, nutrition, and safety for children.
  • Run our Angsana cooking program teaching children to cook together alongside you.

Salary: $30-35 per hour (depending on experience) exclusive of superannuation.
