RDM Visits: Top Ryde Early Learning

posted in: Childcare, Life | 0

We were invited to visit the recently relocated Top Ryde Early Learning to check out their service and share with you our findings. You may recall seeing their centre on the way into Top Ryde Shopping Centre at their previous location on Pope Street (on the bend). Now located on Malvina Street just down from Ryde Secondary School, Top Ryde Early Learning fits in beautifully to its suburban setting.

Indoor & Outdoor Play Space

Top Ryde Early Learning is a privately owned, family run centre that has been purpose-built to provide early education for children aged two to school age. The indoor area of the centre has been designed to feel like the home environment, with inviting learning spaces and cosy nooks and areas for children to enjoy some peace and quiet.

The outdoor area would no doubt be described by any child as heavenly! There are loads of things to do, set up in stations, from obstacle courses to a play dough table, an outdoor kitchen, sandpit, slide, puzzles table, a quiet reading space, a mud pit, an art space and much more! We were told that kids spend as much time outside as possible, whether it be for playing and learning or even eating and sleeping! Wet weather needn’t spoil the fun either, with rain suits available for all children. This is the kind of place where kids can “get amongst it”, as the saying goes, and really play the way kids should play!

Top Ryde Early learning centre is particularly proud of their long-standing, highly skilled staff, with 1 staff member hitting 16 years of employment this week, and another 4 staff members hitting 15 years of employment this year. Their experience and dedication is something they say parents absolutely love about the centre. Staff say they love building strong relationships with not only the children in their care but also the children’s families and encourage visits, ideas, suggestions and participation from each family.

Top Ryde Early Learning staff are highly qualified, with double the amount of staff who are university trained Early Childhood Teachers than regulations require. The Centre Owner, Nesha, also sits on many boards and committees for Early Childhood Education.

The learning program at top Ryde Early Learning is based on emerging topics that interest the children, including a mix of activities and experiences which are child initiated and teacher-led. They believe children learn and develop best when exploring their world through stimulating and challenging play. Their centre provides the opportunities for children to reach their potential in the areas of physical abilities, expressive arts, problem-solving, mathematical skills, language and literacy – and most importantly the ability to develop and maintain relationships and to make wise decisions. They also offer a transition to school preschool program.

All food is cooked on site from scratch and the centre caters to all allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements. Kids eat (and enjoy!) salads and vegetables, as well as all types of gourmet foods. The menu changes seasonally and includes meals such as: Creamy basil chicken and salad wraps, Kangaroo Bolognaise with wholemeal pasta, Shepperd’s pie with a garden salad.
