There is no greater time of the year to get to know your community than Christmas! Here are 18 events to enjoy with your family and friends. You’ll find even MORE over on our website calendar here.



Christmas in the Square, Sydney Olympic Park

When: 21 November to 24 December 2019, 5:30pm -10pm nightly

Where: Jacaranda Square – Australia Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park

Join in the Christmas spirit with a nightly celebration in Jacaranda Square. Each night from 6pm, there will be various activities and entertainment, an opportunity to connect with the local community and celebrate the season together. Then every half hour from sunset until 10pm, everyone can enjoy a little Christmas Magic, – a light projection that turns the Square into a magical light spectacular, sure to entertain any age group!

From the 6th December, grab your last minute Christmas gifts and stocking fillers with the Christmas Pop Up Stalls open each night from 6pm.

Carols in the Park, Hunters Hill

When: Sunday 1st December 2019 from 4pm – 9pm

Where: Boronia Park Ovals, Hunters Hill

Carols in the Park is a free community event, held in Boronia Park and will feature a Christmas Market and have lots of on-stage entertainment by local performers.

The evening finishes with Santa and a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.

Bring your friends and family, have a picnic enjoy the music and sing-a-long!

Epping Aquatic Centre Christmas Pool Party

When: Saturday 7th December 2019, 12:30pm – 4:30pm

Where: Epping Aquatic Centre – 26 Stanley Road Epping

City of Parramatta invites you to Epping Aquatic Centre for a Christmas Pool Party! Entry is a gold coin donation to support Drought Relief. There will be plenty of great activities on offer including:

  • A visit from Santa
  • Giant inflatable obstacle course
  • Petting zoo
  • A DJ
  • Face painting
  • Lucky door prizes
  • Fun games and activities
  • Free swim assessments.

Plus, food and drink will be available for purchase, including kiosk hot food, snacks, cold drinks, coffee and ice cream.

North Ryde Carols in the Paddock

When: Saturday 7th December 2019, 6 – 8:45pm

Where: North Ryde Community Church Grounds – 6-8 Cutler Pde North Ryde

Celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season with those North Ryde community! Head along to the annual Carols in the Paddock on Saturday 7th December. There will be a Christmas market stalls from 6pm, sausage sizzle from 6.30pm (gold coin donation) and then sit back, relax and enjoy the carols which start at 7.30pm.

A wonderful evening for all ages.

City of Ryde Community Christmas Celebration

When: Sunday 8th December 2019, 3- 7pm

Where: Ryde Park – Cnr Princes St & Blaxland Rd Ryde

Come down to Ryde Park for this annual Community Christmas Celebration. Entry to the event is free and there will be plenty of excitement for an afternoon filled with Christmas cheer.

On the day, the kids will have a blast of fun with inflatables. You can purchase a wristband that gives access to unlimited inflatables for $15 per person and includes a bonus free ice block!

Free kids activities:

  • Kids craft activities
  • Giant sandpit
  • Bubble fun with Bubble girl
  • Hula hooping with Spin Joy.

They will have a BBQ to raise funds for the Country Women’s Association (CWA) of NSW Drought Aid. You can also donate via their website.

Don’t miss a special visit from Santa and gifts for kids. Stage entertainment, running from 3pm to 7pm, will include Christmas Carols, dance groups and a special Christmas show from Nick Jnr’s Sam Moran. The evening show will close with entertainment from the Christmas Groove Band.

Carlingford Epping Carols in the Park 2019

When: Sunday 8th December 2019, 5- 9pm

Where: Boronia Park, Epping – 37 Bridge St Epping

Together, the combined churches of Carlingford and Epping are excited to host this year’s Carols in the Park 2019!

Head along for an evening of fun and frivolity, celebrating Christmas, and sharing in the joy of community.

Market Stalls open at 5pm, Carols start at 7:15pm, Fireworks at 9pm, and a special guest performance by 2017’s Toyota Star Maker, Rachael Fahim.

Community Carols, Marsfield Community Church

When: Sunday 8th December 2019, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Where: Marsfield Community Church – 58-60 Agincourt Rd Marsfield

Join in at Marsfield Community Church as they come together as a community to sing carols and celebrate the special season of Christmas!

Bring your picnic blanket or your camp chairs as you’ll be out on the grass.

Free sausage sizzle provided, starting from 5.30pm.

Carols will start around 6pm and finish up by 7.30pm so it’s not too late for the kids.

Christmas Carols at North Epping

When: Friday 13th December 2019, from 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Where: Epping Aquatic Centre – 26 Stanley Road, Epping 

Enjoy one of North Epping’s biggest annual community events. Carol singing, drama, food and FIREWORKS to celebrate the good news of Christmas.

Carols in the Crescent, Parramatta

When: Saturday 14th December 2019, from 4pm

Where: The Crescent, Parramatta Park

Once again, you’re invited to the most magical Carols concert in Sydney. This is a world-class Carols concert that just happens to be happening in Parramatta. Many of Australia’s favourite voices lead by Guy Sebastian and all to raise money for The Sebastian Foundation.

The event is totally free for you to attend – come along, bring a picnic and a sprinkle of Christmas cheer to join in a wonderful celebration of the season. On the night please make a donation, buy a raffle ticket or a candle to help benefit The Sebastian Foundation as we aim to make a difference in the lives of struggling Aussie families.

The event site will open at 4pm, the show will commence at 7pm. Parramatta Park gates will close from 3pm, there will be food trucks and rides for all the family before the show kicks off.

This event is bought to you by our wonderful friends at the City of Parramatta, Parramatta Park, Channel 9, Freedom Kitchens, Green Options and Holiday Inn.

Their team is staying at the Holiday Inn Parramatta and we’ll run a shuttle service to the event for people who stay the night at the hotel and book mentioning Carols in the Crescent.

North Ryde Christmas Twilight Community Markets

When: Saturday 14th December 2019, from 4-8pm

Where: North Ryde Community Church  – 6-8 Cutler Parade North Ryde

Enjoy this annual Christmas-themed Twilight Community Market held in the lovely grounds of the North Ryde community Church located behind the Council car park at 6-8 Cutler Parade, North Ryde.
There will be 40 stalls with many of our popular stall holders returning and there will be new ones too. They will be selling an array of lovely items especially suitable as Christmas gifts.
Devonshire tea, sausage sizzle, traditional Korean cuisine and Chinese dumplings offer great dinner options.
There will be face-painting, activities for young ones and “Snelly” the Clown will entertain the children.

Carols by Twilight, North Rocks

Rotary Carols on the Common + Fireworks, North Ryde

When: Sunday 15th December 2019, 5.30 – 9.30pm

Where: North Ryde Common – Corner Wicks and Twin Rd North Ryde

An authentic carols experience at Sydney’s second-largest Christmas Carols in the heart of Ryde! The 27th annual Carols on the Common will kick off with live entertainment and Carols and will wrap up with a firework display. Don’t forget to bring a picnic blanket and some nibbles while you enjoy the festivities!

This year there will be more food stalls than ever before. Rides, face-painting and other amusements will also be available. It’s best to bring cash, as cards may not always be accepted. There will be a bucket collection and a carpark gold coin donation. Money raised on the night goes to worthy causes such as ROMAC – an organisation bringing sick and ill children from nations all over the world for life-changing surgery in Australia. With your help, they can raise over $10 000 this year for ROMAC alone.

Carols in the Park, North Ryde

When Tuesday 17th December 2019, 7.30 – 9pm

Where: Pindari Park – Pindari Street, North Ryde

Join in at family-friendly Christmas carol program featuring live music. Santa Claus will also be handing out lollies on the day. Bring a rug to sit on if you wish!

There will be a free sausage sizzle from 6:30pm.

Carols in the Park, Five Dock

When: Wednesday 18th December 2019, from 6 – 9pm

Where: Halliday Park – Mcgrath Avenue Five Dock

Communities for Communities “Carols in the Park” event returns to Halliday Park in Five Dock for 2019!

Bring your picnic rugs and your best singing voices along to this annual family and community Christmas event on WEDNESDAY 18 December.

Food stalls will open from 6pm, including the much-loved sausage sizzle from the Rotary Club of Five Dock.

There will also be a special visit from the man in the big red suit and plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained!

North Rocks Carols by Candlelight

When: Friday 20th December 2019, from 5pm – 9pm

Where: Roselea Community Centre – 645 Pennant Hills Rd Carlingford

Family entertainment from 5pm – jumping castle, live performers and more. Food is available from 5.30pm – international food, coffee snow cones, BBQ and much more. Carol singing from 7:30pm with a visit from Santa.

Lah-Lah’s Stripy Christmas Show

When: Saturday 21st December 2019, from 10 – 11am

Where: Ryde Civic Hall

Come and join Lah-Lah‘s Big Live Band as they celebrate Christmas at Ryde Civic Centre Sat 21st December!

And there’ll be a special musical visit from You-Know-Who. That’s right, direct from the North Pole, Santa Clause will be coming to the show with his brand new Trombone!

Meet Lah-Lah and the band, touch and try the real musical instruments, have your photo taken with the stars, and collect their autographs – it’s all included in your ticket. Lah-Lah – made with music.

There will be entertainment for the kids (jumping castle & animal farm), BBQ by NHW and free coffee, bring your picnic rug and enjoy Christmas Carols with family & friends.

Ryde Community Christmas Pool Party for Good

When: Sunday 22nd December 2019, from 1-5pm

Where: Ryde Aquatic Lesire Centre

Join The City of Ryde on Sunday 22 December for an all-ages Christmas party by the pool at the Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre and raise funds to support farmers affected by the drought! 

Enjoy discounted pool entry ($5 per person; $20 for a family pass), with all funds raised via entry on the day going towards relief for drought-affected farmers.

Activities will include free face painting, a colouring competition and great giveaways on the day. There will also be two inflatables, a giant water slide, waves and many other fun water features.

On the day, grab a snag at our sausage sizzle. Funds raised from the sausage sizzle will be donated to Giant Steps, a special education school for children and young adults with autism.
