Colour My World Children’s Centre, West Ryde

Located opposite Marsden High on Winbourne Street West Ryde, Colour My World Children’s Centre has stood proud for the last 12 years as a purpose built, architecturally designed long daycare and preschool.

Both the look and feel of the centre give a strong sense of a home environment, which is exactly how owners Diane and Robert Saba want it to feel – their aim has always been to provide a comfortable and safe environment for children to thrive. Check out their full video tour here.

As we did for their Ermington centre, we were invited to visit Colour My World West Ryde for a tour and share our findings. It was wonderful to discover that both centres mirror each other in the philosophy, ethos, size, environment and wonderful staff.

About

Colour My World West Ryde is a small family-owned centre, priding itself on its strong family connections and welcoming home-like environment. The centre is light, bright and airy with high ceilings allowing for plenty of ventilation throughout the rooms. With dedicated educators and an experienced director, this is the kind of place where children will instinctively feel safe and nurtured.

Size

If you’re after a centre that’s smaller in size, where focussed attention can be given to each child and it’s not always about meeting the needs of the group but also the individual, then this is a great choice for you. The centre has a capacity of 38 children across 3 rooms, as well as huge outdoor area, open-plan dining room and cot room to make use of.

The outdoor area looks like heaven for kids and has so much to offer including fun activities, outdoor dining, multiple reading books, places for group learning and more.

Staff

Centre Director Tiffany has over 20 years experience in childcare and has 3 young children herself, so has a deep understanding of what it is parents want and need in a childcare setting. Tiffany shared with us that she is over the moon with the team at Colour My World, explaining that they are not only highly skilled but their skills complement each other in the best way possible for the children. She’s also very proud of the low staff turnover and recognises how important that is for continuity of care for children and families.

Curriculum

Using the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), a play-based program is the primary form of education, which they create in direct response to the interests of the children.

Colour My World also offer a preschool program in all rooms, not just the pre-schoolers room, which is aligned with each of the local primary school learning programs and is updated yearly.

For children who are starting school in the following year, Colour My World prepare specific activities and experiences that children will encounter in primary school, networking with the local primary school to provide a four-week program. This includes a visit to Kindergarten classes, library, school assembly and lunchtime and canteen visits.

Nutrition

All meals are prepared fresh on-site by their in-house chef who makes breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea for the children. They use a range of seasonal produce in all of their meals and ensure that food meets current nutritional guidelines.  As well as that, fresh fruit is always available for children throughout the day.

Cleanliness

Cleanliness has always been important to Colour My World but now so more than ever given our current climate. Each night a team of professional cleaners clean the whole centre top to bottom, leaving the centre immaculate for the arrival of families each morning.

Passionate Owners

Owners Diane and Robert Saba are themselves parents which they say drives their passion to provide a quality service to their fellow parents and helps them to understand the needs and wants of families.

Having been driven to provide the best quality service since 2009 when they opened the West Ryde service and further in 2011 when they opened the Ermington service, there is nothing that satisfies them more than having happy children and happy families, as well as contributing to the community in a positive way. They take great pride both personally and professionally in their teams in creating a place where parents trust their children will be cared for in the best possible way each day.
