12 weeks ago, Admin told you about the Fernwood 12 Week Challenge.

We were excited, daunted, nervous and raring to go. Well, it’s 12 weeks later (already!!) and we are pleased to reveal our results.

Incredibly, across the 30 ladies who took part in the challenge, 198kgs were lost! That’s the same weight as an adult bottlenose dolphin, or an average male lion or even a llama! You get the drift- it’s a lot. The winner for Fernwood Ryde, Colette, lost a staggering 16.6kgs and 69.5cms from her body.

Want to know what that looks like? Prepare to be amazed!

She tells us: “I joined Fernwood with a similar goal to a lot of mums- to lose some weight and feel better about myself. I was lonely, my self-esteem was in the gutter and I was depressed. Fernwood made it easy for me to get an hour to myself each day with their great crèche, which enabled me to start to achieve my goals. I found that I had a lot in common with other members and they are a great source of support, encouragement and friendship. I decided to take part in the 12-week challenge to give me some extra motivation, and with the meal plans, workouts and journal I have reached further than I had imagined. With the help of the awesome trainers pushing me to my limits, I am delighted with the results. I never thought that a gym would be my happy place but Fernwood Ryde is!”

As for us, unfortunately Jess sustained an injury and Jacqui, a barrage of illnesses, so I was flying the Admin flag. Over the course of the 12 weeks I lost 17cms and well- the pictures speak for themselves. At first, I was really embarrassed to share this image, but it’s actually something to be proud of so voila! I feel so much happier and more comfortable in my clothing. We found the team focus of the program to be really motivating as we were collecting points along the way and didn’t want to let the rest of the team down. The meal plans were easy to follow and recipes didn’t have 100 weird and wonderful ingredients. Just normal everyday meals, which were certainly achievable. The journal addressed your headspace and really made you stop and think about your activity, your food and how it impacted one another.

For me, the 12 Week Challenge was an excellent kick start to what I hope will be an overall health and fitness journey and I would recommend it to anyone who feels like a deer in headlights at the gym or overwhelmed by the constant barrage of health advice on the internet.
