Sydney Wine Festival, Rosehill Racecourse

Deepavali Festival, Parramatta Park

When: Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October

Where: Parramatta Park 

Deepawali or Diwali is the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It is the festival of lights: deep means “light” and avali “a row,” or “a row of lights.” 

The festival is also observed by Sikhs and Jains, with its main theme as the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. 

Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) is celebrating the grand festival of Deepavali for the 5th year, at Martin Place on the 12th of October and at the Parramatta Park on 14th and 15th of October. This unique event celebrates the rich cultural diversity of India and is a must see for every Australian who is proud of our multicultural society.

Concord Carnival 2017

When: Sunday 15th October

Where: Greenlees Park – Ian Parade, Concord

Jump to the Beat at this year’s Concord Carnival. 

This annual family fun day returns to Greenlees Park this year celebrating all things music.

There will be performances from local entertainers, more than 80 food, display and merchandise stalls.

Keep the kids entertained with sideshow rides, a petting zoo and pony rides.

Crows Nest Festival

Where: Crows Nest Festival, Willoughby Road Crows Nest

It is estimated the Crows Nest Festival attracts fifty thousand people during the day, each of them focused on sharing in the community spirit that exists as a result of up to 200 stall holders, 4 stages and entertainment areas, inflatable rides, petting zoo, pony rides, craftspeople, street entertainers and musicians merging together for the benefit of Crows Nest.

Kidscape in The Rocks

When: Sunday 15th October, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Where: First Fleet Park, Circular Quay Sydney

Kidscape will focus on bringing kids to the fore-front of the conversation about our city. It will create a space in which kids feel they are equally important in the future of our cities to professional planners.

The activities in the full day event will revolve around a conversation about urban living, greener and sustainable cities, and how kids view and use their public space.
