Strathfield Park – WOW!

posted in: Life, Parks & Playgrounds | 0

Strathfield Park underwent a major renovation in late 2017 and is now one of the biggest and most impressive playgrounds we’ve come across!

This park has 2 play areas – one is located on the Chalmers Road side and the other is on the Homebush Road side on the opposite side of the block.

Let’s first talk about the Homebush Road side. Wonderfully, much of it has been designed to be “all access”, meaning it can be used by people of all abilities. Suitable for all age children, older kids in particular will get a real kick out of this playground. The giant slides and flying fox could keep them occupied for hours alone! The equipment is too plentiful to name but let’s just say you could come back multiple times and not have had a chance to play with everything! The best way to describe this play area is 6 playgrounds in 1!

On the other side of the park on Chalmers Road is another playground, this one with a purpose-built scooter/bike track complete with road signs and markings. Adjacent to the scooter track is yet another play area, which boasts a train, swings and climbing equipment. This side of the park is best for toddlers and kids that might be overwhelmed by the choice on the other side of the park.

Toilets can be found in the middle of the two play areas rotunda’s, and you’ll also find BBQs and picnic tables so it could be a great option for a party! Although the kids might not see much of each other, given the spread of the land!

There’s nowhere nearby Strathfield Park for food or coffee so pack snacks and even lunch because you could be here all day! The kids will definitely work up an appetite buzzing around all the equipment.

While play areas are not fenced, children running onto the road is less of an issue than getting lost in this wonderland of fun. The park gets very busy on weekends and parking can be tricky so we suggest you aim for a weekday visit!

This playground is definitely one to check out, at least once!
