Ryde Park

Ryde Park is a very large, beautifully manicured park right in the heart of Ryde. If you haven’t been yet, it’s time to pack your baby bag and head on over. We would go so far as to say this park is one of the most well-known parks in Ryde. In terms of features, Ryde Park boasts:

  • playground
  • cafe
  • brilliant scooter track complete with traffic signs, a roundabout and traffic lights
  • basketball court
  • sportsfields
  • beautifully landscaped gardens
  • historical rotunda for ceremonies
  • sheltered picnic tables
  • toilets
  • plenty of space

For these reasons, Ryde Park is a very popular spot to host children’s birthday parties – all bases are covered!

Sotto Cafe is located right next to the playground and serves everything from coffee to take away snacks to a sit-down breakfast or lunch. It is so close to the playground that you might even feel confident watching older kids while you look on from a distance inside the cafe. If not, the low brick wall that lines the playground is the perfect distance and height for sitting and watching the kids play while sipping (guzzling) coffee and chatting (gasbagging) to those nearby!

The playground equipment is fun and seems to keep kids from about 1 right up to about 7 entertained. It features:

  • a bucket swing
  • a small swing for young children
  • seesaw
  • cubby style fort with 2 slides
  • a sandpit
  • climbing equipment
  • a supernova

While we like to mix it up and spread the love across lots of parks, we seem to return to Ryde Park again and again, especially when meeting friends from out of the area, as it seems to have something for everybody and hits the spot.

Getting There

There’s plenty of parking all the way around the block (Princes Street and Argyle Street) but be mindful of people’s driveways.
