Lynelle Park, Eastwood

Lynelle Park is the NEWEST kid on the block and just opened in early December 2017!

First of all, a fun fact – all new parks that are signed off by City of Ryde for development in 2018 will have a soft fall ground and will be accessible. Good bye BARK and hello access for all!

AND here is a further piece of interesting information. Did you know all slides in new parks by City of Ryde are designed to face east? This is so they get the morning sun and not the hotter afternoon sun.

Lynelle Park is classed as being in Eastwood, but some might say it’s in Marsfield – it is on the corner of Balaclava Road and Abuklea Road. The park has a gorgeous marine theme There are two main play stations separated by a scooter/bike track that circles around them both.

One area has the ‘half sunken’ ship that features the slide, rocker and swings. The other area features the “crows nest” plus a spinning wheel. There is also a cute kids picnic table and little meandering path under the mature trees. There are lots of benches for adults to sit on and lots of lovely sandstone blocks. One set of sandstone blocks makes a great climbing and stepping area for the kids!

Bordering th park, the council have planted some trees that once grown should provide some good shade (of course we would also love a shade sail!) and there are also mature trees in the back of the park that will provide good shade if you are there at the right time of the day.

The park is not fenced but there have been some measures taken to try to help with the safety of young children. On the Abukela Road side there is a bush/garden area that has been planted (needs to grow more of course!) plus in between that and the play area is small hill that the council have created to act as a guard. On the Balaclava Road side there is planted ground cover, trees and a slight hill plus a sandstone corner between the two roads.

There is easy street parking on Abuklea Road too. Your budding sea kids will love exploring this new park.
