Local Indian Catering with a Difference!

I love venturing out to an Indian restaurant for dinner and I’d also love to be able to cook Indian food at home, however, with two young children we don’t have much time to do either! So I jumped at the chance to try some ready-made Indian meals from local mum Anchal, who runs DIY Catering

Anchal was lovely to deal with through the ordering and delivery process. It’s clear to see she is passionate about her business. Anchal suggested we try out the biryani, butter chicken, tandoori garlic naan bread and dal makhani. The meals come frozen ready to pop in the freezer, perfect if you aren’t planning on eating them straight away (meals have a freezer life of a year). Otherwise, let the meals defrost in the fridge for a day and then heat in the microwave or on the stove top.

From fridge to plate took around 15 minutes for the meals we had, which is so handy on those days when you rush home from work, or you’re picking children up from school a bit later, or don’t have the time/energy to cook.

What impressed me the most was that the meals tasted authentic and fresh. The biryani and dal both had just the perfect amount of spice (I prefer mild flavour) and a good amount of vegetables. The butter chicken melted in the mouth and was rich in flavour. I found the garlic a little too strong in the naan but my husband really enjoyed it! (They do have plain naan -I’ve since checked!)

We had four adults and one 4 year old at the table and the two dishes plus rice and naan was the perfect amount, although my daughter only ate the butter chicken and preferred some plain bread with her dish.

Anchal tells me all items are created by professionally trained chefs and snap frozen with NO preservatives. She also tells me they offer FREE delivery for orders above $34.95 for all suburbs within 15kms distance of Rydalmere. I think what we ordered would cost at least double if ordering as takeaway from a restaurant.

I’m so glad I got to try these meals and I was pleasantly surprised at how healthy the ingredients were and how simple it was to prepare! If you have a large group of guests for dinner or just need some ready-made meals in the freezer, they have different meals and packages to cater for what you need from individual meals to banquet style packages.
