Supporting Candidates

Cameron Maclean and Tony Lee

Are you part of or have you been part of a political party? If so, which one?

Labor – Australian Labor Party (NSW Branch)

Tell us a bit about you and your team. What’s your day job?

I was elected to represent the City of Parramatta in September 2017. Our family has lived in Dundas Valley for 25+ years and during that time I’ve been an active member of the community volunteering on the Yates Avenue Public School P & C, the 1st North Rocks Scout Group Committee and at Cumberland Gang Show. Since 2007 I have predominantly worked for the NSW Legislature.

Cameron Maclean is standing as the number 2 candidate in the Epping Ward.
Cameron has lived in Epping all his life. Educated at Epping PS and Epping Boys High School, he is in his final year of a Bachelor of Business, majoring in economics and applied finance, at Western Sydney University.

Cameron has been swimming at Epping Pool all his life so the construction of a new pool is one of his highest priorities for the area.

Tony Lee has lived in Epping for over 30 years. He worked as a Senior Hospital Scientist at Royal North Shore until his recent retirement that is allowing him the opportunity to lecture in his field of expertise and spend more time with his extended family.

As a founding member and former Vice President of the Chinese Catholic Church of Sydney Tony has developed deep connections with his community.

What are some things you love about living in the area?

I love where I live because of its central location and convenience. Its surrounded by bushland, enjoyable walking routes and parks plus it is close to the Parramatta River.
Dining out is one of my favourite things to do with family and friends. With the variety of dining options in the suburbs and Parramatta CBD I love the chance to try something new whether it be cafes, pub food, restaurants or clubs.

I love Riverside Theatres. When our boys were younger I loved taking them to enjoy kids’ theatre and these days we go to see musicals, plays about Western Sydney and this diverse and vibrant place where we live.

I never get enough of the heritage riches of Parramatta. From Elizabeth Farm to the Female Factory, from the heritage conservation areas of Epping to World Heritage Listed Parramatta Park. I’m passionate about protecting our heritage and making Parramatta a tourist destination.

What do you believe to be the 3 main issues affecting our community?

  1. Better protection of our natural environment
  2. Appropriate development NOT over development
  3. Better community spaces and places

What are the 3 key things you plan to achieve?

  1. Build a new Epping Pool
  2. More family events across our city
  3. Enhance our parks and public spaces for all ages and abilities

What about your long term vision for the area?

Improve livability in our suburbs and the city as a whole.

Other Comments

In four years we’ve saved Epping Pool, established a new community centre in Epping, have started giving Epping library a makeover and built sports pavilions at Sommerville, West Epping, Dundas and Boronia Parks. As well as that, I secured shade sail for Henry Briggs Park, installed bus shelters on Carlingford Road and solar lights at both Hazlewood Rose and Dundas Park along with advocating for the Christmas party at Dence Park. Currently, I am supporting the community consultation for a dog park in West Epping. I helped secure a ten year lease of Carlingford HS Oval. This resulted in Roselea Football Club securing a grant for lighting and drainage upgrades. I’ve campaigned with the community to Save Willow Grove, revive The Roxy and protect Parramatta Park from further commercialisation. I will continue to work hard to ensure there is a balance between development, liveability, environment and heritage.
