There are two people in this world – those who write novels in cards and those who let Hallmark do the talking. I am the former.

I love any opportunity to write a card to someone and blab on about how awesome I think they are . And I love that home-made cards are totally acceptable now that I have kids, especially because they dont cost $6.99 a pop!

So of course I made Easter cards. I thought I might take it to the next level by utilising the ancient art of bubble printing. Do you remember the last time you did bubble printing? For me I think it was 20 years ago….! Needless to say it took me a while to re-aquaint myself with this skillful technique.. Let me make it easy for you.

You will need:

  • Thickish paper

  • 2 or 3 paint colours

  • Dishwashing liquid

  • Straws

  • Water

  • Tupperware containers

  • Cotton balls

  • Glue

1. Fill the tupperware containers with a cup of water, a half cup of paint and a good slosh of dishwashing liquid, then mix with a fork.

2. Now the good part – pick up your straw and blow!  Your kiddo will love this bit.. in fact it may be hard to move past this bit onto the next bit! Fortunately because of the dishwashing liquid it cleans up fairly easily.

3. Now for the ‘printing’. Once you’ve got a good bubble going, place your piece of paper on top of the bubbles and press down. If the paint is not transferring to the paper you need more paint. Also try scooping the bubbles onto the paper with a spoon.

4. Once the paper is dry, you can cut out your rabbits. I used this template and traced it onto the bubble paper which I folded x3 so that I only had to cut once.

5. On the blank side, you can write your card. Sadly I didn’t have the room to write my usual love letter, might make bigger bunnies next year!!

6. Time for gluing on the rabbits’ little cotton tails. Or if you’re my child, gluing cotton balls onto everything else within arms reach….!

Cute, huh?

Happy Easter crafting folks !
