Dawn On Your Driveway This ANZAC Day

posted in: Life | 0

We may not be gathering together for ANZAC Day services or marches this year, but there are other ways that we can acknowledge ANZAC Day and honour the service and sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women past and present.

Stand at the end of your balcony or on your driveway at 6am

From 6am, stand at the end of your driveway or on your balcony facing east with candles, torches or mobile phones in hand for a minute silence for Australian servicemen and women.

Tune in to live services and virtual commemorative services

Official Anzac services will still be held in Australia’s capital cities, to be live-streamed and televised:

  • At 5:30am a national dawn service will be televised on the ABC from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
  • At 9am join the City of Ryde Facebook page where the City of Ryde Mayor will provide a short address followed by The Ode and a special performance of “In Flanders Fields”.
  • At 10.00am RSL NSW will facilitate a televised service attended by the Governor at the Hyde Park Memorial. Please check your local TV guides.
  • At 11:30am the ABC will live-stream a reflection video on Facebook, including The Ode and Last Post, followed by a one-minute silence — marking the moment when the Aussie troops landed at Gallipoli on April 25, 1915.
