Best Streets for Christmas Lights 2018

It’s a favourite Christmas activity that creates the best buzz on the street – who doesn’t love seeing Christmas lights? We’ve put together a list of the best local streets to get your fix this year – most start around the 1st od December.

North Ryde

  • Chauvel Street
  • Schumack Street
  • Cutler Parade

These are regarded as some of the best streets in the area with loads of houses to see plus an ice cream van to boot! Best to go on foot. Again this year, on Shumack Street children can enter the Snow Cave from 8pm and sing along to their favourite Frozen songs. Funds raised go to charity, more info here.

Pindari Street, Gibb Street off Kent Road and Farrington Parade are also worth checking out.

Ryde

Stephen Avenue (off Quarry Road near Midway Shopping Centre) is a cracker of a street, with nearly every house in the cul-de-sac lit up. Santa comes on Saturday nights and much of the effort has benefited research into children’s illnesses. Don’t try to park too close, it gets very busy.

Putney

Gregory Street – a nice little cul-de-sac walk with about 10 houses lit up.

Carlingford

  • Oakes Road, Lindisfarne Crescent and Watton Road.
  • Sydney Australia Temple – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 756 Pennant Hills Rd, Carlingford

Lane Cove

  • Sutherland Street, Lane Cove
  • Yallambee Road, Riverview
  • Kingslangley Road, Greenwich

Honourable mentions

  • Denistone East – Rickard Street
  • Rydalmere – Pine Street
  • West Ryde – Forsyth Street and Brush Road

Further Afield

  • Willoughby – First, Second, Third and Fourth Avenues
  • Davidson – Borgnis Street and Cambage Court
  • Westmead – Grasmere Ave (Saturday nights in Dec they do sausage sizzle, live music & Mr Whippy!) plus visit Dorest Ave!
  • Hornsby Heights – Sydney Road
  • Berowra – Richards Close
  • Mosman – Prince Albert Avenue
  • Thornleigh – Oakleigh Avenue
  • Quakers Hill – Mallee Street

We’ve just been for a drive. Champion St and Tennyson St in Ryde have quite a few.
