Aquatopia at Prairiewood Leisure Centre – what a find! Being a little out of the area you may not of heard of it, however, it’s TOTALLY worth the drive (approx 30 minutes).
We first visited in early Jan 2018 and have been regulars since. There is so much on offer including:
- 10 and 20 metre high giant slides
- the adventure aqua tower
- the toddlers pool
- Wave Rider bodyboard simulator
- and the NEW, gigantic 55-metre Wave Pool
Be prepared to spend the WHOLE day visiting this beauty. Check out all the options below.
Younger children
- Kids under 5 are FREE
- All children under 5 get a green wristband, which means an adult needs to stay with them at all times
- There is a baby/toddler splash area with about 20cm of water and various water spouts, sprinklers and fun inclusions
- The main area has little slides for younger kids, lots of water squirting this way, that way and every which way
Older Children
- There are some huge slides to the side of the main area – kids need to be 120cm tall to go on these (there is a ruler at reception to measure)
- There are many other medium-sized slides to enjoy – open slides, twisty slides, dark tunnel slides (definitely one for thrill-seekers!), lots of water buckets, sprinklers and of course wet zones
- There are also 10m and 20m slides, which will kids will love. They’re fast and some are steep, not for the faint-hearted!
- You’ll also find a wave rider pool for kids and adults keen to give it a try
- PLUS their new 55m wave pool – best to bring boogie boards for this
Tickets and Waiting Times
- Entry Tickets can sell out so we recommend you pre-book your tickets online. Click here to buy. You don’t want to drive out there and realise they are sold out.
- Once inside, there can be a wait for rides depending on when you go. More so for the newer attractions like the 55m wave pool, (although kids will be entertained watching all the other kids go ahead of them), the larger slides and the 10m slides. Weekdays are quieter.
- The Aqua tower doesnt usually have queues – kids constantly move through the stairs, slides, water play. Sometimes there is a small wait to get onto one of the main slides but it is minimal.
Tables and Shade
- There is a huge shade sail area near the toddler splash area.
- Surrounding the main area are big umbrellas – we’ve been were lucky enough to nab one when arriving at at 11am.
- There is also a new amenities block and more shade sail area with seating near the wave pool – we have never had an issue getting a seat but we do arrive at opening time
- Around the main area are some cabanas with BBQs – the BBQs can only be used by cabana bookings (cost involved to book) and you also get a mini bar fridge!
Our top tips:
- Buy your tickets online, you are guaranteed entry and it saves the hassle on the day! Get tix here.
- Bring a driver’s licence – one adult in your party needs to have one to enter
- Take a picnic lunch/snacks as the kiosk has limited options and a bit of a queue.
- Arrive early (they open at 11am) so you can get yourself in and set up.
- They don’t allow inflatable rings for pool area so leave them at home.
- Feel free to bring floaties/vest for kids (no floaty rings as these are not allowed) and boogie boards for the wave pool
- You will probably end up going on many of the rides with your kids, due to age limits or the scare factor, but don’t worry it’s really fun!
- Apply sunscreen regularly (yes this is a given but the water is nice and refreshing that it’s easy to forget)
Opening Hours
- Open 7 days a week in school holidays (Normally open start of September school holidays to the end of April school holidays)
- Open weekends 11am to 4pm
What will it cost?
- For non-Fairfield City Council residents, it’s $20 per person (anyone 5 years & over).
- A family pass is the best value. 2 adults and 2 kids = a “family pass” costs $67 (can be 2A, 2C or 1A 3C (6-15 years), additional adults are $20 each.
Parking
They have an extensive grassed area that they call their Aquatopia untimed parking and you’re best to park there. It’s right beside the centre and is well signed as you enter the main carpark area. Entry to Aquatopia is just off the dedicated unlimited parking area – you will see red flags showing the entry area so follow those!
We always have a great day at Aquatopia and definitely recommend visiting this awesome venue. We have now been 5 times and the kids think it’s absolutely AMAZING!
